Ok, I've finally received my certificate of completion this morning after early F&F settlement (Enquirer does cartwheel on lounge carpet). Sadly there were problems along the way. My settlement offer was submitted in Dec 2007! Anyway, we got there in the end.
My query is regarding my credit file. I have subscribed to CreditExpert and received my file and credit score. I have found current entries such as my bank account and car finance agreement, which is shortly due to end (enquirer punches air)! MI found my entry on the electoral register and then nothing else! No CCJ's and no Defaults! My debt issues started in 2003 when I went into Debt Management. The Debt seem to be never ending and things were getting tighter so I decided to enter an IVA. Maybe not the wisest decision I ever made. With hindsight, maybe entering the IVA was a bit too drastic in respect of my circumstances. Anyway, I'm just puzzled as what to do next. Is there any point in sending my certificate off to the CRA's to clear my file when it appears to be clear. My credit rating it fair to good. It's all very confusing for me. What do you advise I do. My partner and I may be looking to take out a mortgage in the near future based on two incomes rather than my partner taking on all the debts in her name. I just want to be in a position to contribute financially in the relationship. Sometimes being credit worthy is an important part of that. We have steered away from joint accounts because I didnt want to damage her credit rating. Are we now safe to open a joint account? Some advice please on the best way forward for me and my partner.
I would also check the other two CRA's - Call Credit and Equifax to see what they have on file.
Otherwise it does sound as though your file is clear.

And I would not suggest you alter that status quo!

Well done Scottj for completing your IVA and good to see things are looking up.If there is nothing on your credit file I would not advise sending anything to the CRAs. It is possible that the defaults etc have fallen off but it might be worth getting a copy of your Experian report to see if it is clear also.
If there is still some adverse info held about you it would be better to obtain any mortgage in your partner's sole name until your credit file is clear as the rates and products available would be diminished if your name was attached.
If everything seems fine on your reports you could apply for a mobile phone contract or even a credit card to see if you are accepted. Doing this online would make a rejection less embarrassing. Good luck and it would be interesting to find out how you get on. Many people believe an IVA or a bankruptcy ruins your credit file for life but your story shows otherwise.

Thank you, I will apply for my experian report. I'm eager to dip my toe in the water, if only to see how healthy my credit worthiness is. Can I do this straight away or is there a period after completion before things are fixed? I note my details are still held on the Individual Insolvency Register Database?
I have learnt to be VERY careful in future. With the exception of essentials like maybe a car loan and house mortgage. Don't get overdrafts and dont get credit cards. There are prepaid cards now with purchase cover!
This forum has been absolutely amazing for me. I would not be where I am now without it. I owe the experts on here BIG time! Huge thanks to everyone on here.
Once discharged there are no restrictions so you could apply immediately. Your name is removed from the register on completion so there may just be a small time lag until it is updated. It may be worth waiting until your name has been removed but you could try now if you feel lucky.

I just wanted to share this with everyone who has just completed or is about to complete their IVA.
Yesterday evening I searched around the Insolvency Service website seeing how I could go about getting my name removed from the register. As you know I received my COC in the post yesterday. I sent a general enquiry to the site basically saying 'I have completed my IVA. I am in receipt of a certificate of completion. Please expedite the removal of my details'.
Checked it again this morning and my details have disappeared. Dont know if it helped but I've added the link below for anyone who might want to make use of it.

What great news - we will recommend that to all posters and clients as a method of fast-tracking the removal of personal information from this register.
Useful info for posters on here, and glad to see that the Insolvency Service is on the ball.

I am glad to share it with you. I cant seem to be able to remove my username off this website though! Ha!
I suppose nobody will believe me if I said it was my pseudonym!
Thank you for all your help on here, every single one of you. This site has been an invaluable support during my IVA and even helped me reach an early settlement. I wish everyone a speedy conclusion to their debt issues.
Remember, keep your chin up, you never know what might be just around the next corner.
So glad that things have worked out for you Scott.
Keep posting and letting us know how you are getting on. It's good to hear posts from people post IVA. It gives those of us still battling through some hope!
