I am with the Debt People, who have been really good - but if I had found this forum before I phoned them I would have definitely contacted Melanie or David after reading all the positive posts on here.

Good luck to both of you - but you are going to be fine.

Definitely. A great big weight has been lifted off me and I feel I can breathe again. It is a great feeling not having to worry about where I can get the money from to pay creditors.

Still a bit worried about managing the budget but determined to get through it, and certainly have more money than I had the two months before I made the phone call to the Debt People.

Stay positive

I think the budget will always be tight on an IVA if your IP has done his work. I do feel that if you can manage a budget through the full IVA it will always be a massive help to budget correctly post IVA and not end up in the same mess again. I like everyone also have concerns over managing the budget but it is achievable it's not like i have been shopping at Harrods anyway.[:D]

You are right there and I agree that being in an IVA will be a valuable lesson in how to budget and not to use credit.

As my sister says when we are old enough to realise that paying for things on credit is not a good thing .... it is too late because we are already up to our necks in debt!!

Hi All,
I signed my proposal last night and sent it of first thing this morning. I wish I had bypassed going through other people and gone straight for Dave or Melanie, they seem to get things going much faster,I have been at this for over 8 weeks now and some seem to get it sorted in 6. Never mind I am on my way now, I just hope I don't end up with CCJ's efore I get a creditors meeting sorted out.

Now your proposal has gone in it shouldn't be long until you get a date for a creditors meeting.

Unless you have any dates for court action, you should be ok.

Some wiser people say buying things on credit means you are buying on the never never. I think it means never do it because youll never pay for it. Will remember that when I have finished IVA

The amount of dividend does not matter. An IVA is based upon

(a) affordability

(b) achievable

(c) represents the debtors' best interests

Good luck to you all.
