According to the Insolvency Service website he is an IP based in Bury with Leonard Curtis - so I wonder if Expert Financial solutions is an intermediary or just one of their trading names.

How long have you been with them, rockstarloz? I'm surprised they didnt mention anything to you about a DMP to cover the time it takes to set up the IVA

Hi DTT - why don't you ask the person who is going to call in and see you the following questions:

1. Do you work for a firm who provide DMP's and/or IVA's?

2. What is the name of that firm?

3. What is the name of the Insolvency Practitioner I would be using if I go into an IVA?

That would definitely shed light on who they are.

Otherwise have a chat with Melanie's or my firm as indicated by the other posters here or visit www.iva.com and select from the reviews there. Let us know how you get on.

Hi and Welcome.[:)]

Its a scary place when you first start this journey, and often we feel any help is a life line. I know I did, but an IVA is a relationship with your chosen IP for 5yrs, make sure you are comfortable with your choice.
Jan you couldn't have said a truer word. We so nearly went down the wrong route for us. We only found this website by chance, how lucky we were. With the advice, support and gentle prodding of other posters, I finally contacted Cleardebt. Now I feel safe.

They do not employ a IP any more they had a disagrement shall we say until the back end of last year Moneyexpert ( Expert financial solutions) were a good but small practice ( i drafted for them ) however now they will sell you what they call a dual solution 2 mth on debt management then pass you to Simple debt solutions fore a IVA. Avoid?

I would - you do not need to go on a DMP before doing an IVA, and a DMP can take as long to do as an IVA do can't see the point.

That is a new one - a "dual solution". Sounds like a way of getting "dual" fees to me.

This is a rip off for dual fees and should be avoided at all costs.

Seek an alternative firm to go with who don't ask for upfront fees.

I agree David its a sales pitch too con you out of 2 mths payments. They use the sales pitch of we will set up a DMP to the point of holding off making an offer of repayment, this brings you upto the second payment date. At this stage the account is passed to SDS to draft, if the IVA fails the account is then passed back to Moneyexpert ( House&Homecare/Immediate Financial) to continue the DMP. They say it saves the delay in setting up a DMP after failed IVA & they will re-apply in 9mths for the IVA. Con?
