The other point to make is that by paying a payment up front (as long as it actually goes towards the IVA, as I know Melanie does this) is that your iva will actually finish a month earlier so that brings with it added bonus. For example if after the first year you get a pay rise which leads to increased contributions then you will have 1 less total payment to make at the increased amount.

Thank you Paul - I do hope Melanie gets my husband's through then I can tell him 59 or whatever it is to go! I hope you understood what I was trying to say in my original post - nuisance that I misread the word though - anyway I hope I have put it right. J
J, I must admit when I first read it I thought did You mean paragraph and then I thought I must have missed something somewhere else. I think the main thing is that both Melanie and David are both excellent at thier jobs and if you choose either as an IP then you have made a good choice. Payment up front or not is irrevelent as quality of service is what it is all about.

I am glad you read it as it should have been typed!! Yes I agree with you quality of service is a priority together with expertise and you and David (and me)have been given that. David would be the first to admit he would not have been Melanie's easiest client - he has asked many questions, he worries (he tries to hide it from me though) about me and our son and he had to sort the doctors out again over my mother at the hospital yesterday. He found "No resus" on the notes above her bed - I asked my mother did she consent - she was not even asked! The note has been taken off. Doctors taking the place of God - David will not tolerate it. I just wish he could treat his creditors in the same way but he can't. J
David's nature is to put everybody before himself and because of this he does not stick up for himself only for everybody else. The thing is though because of his nature he really shows what a true gentleman he his. I just really hope everything works out for you as I am really looking forward to David's post to say his IVA is accepted. David is a true gentleman and a true Gentleman always has a true lady with them.

Jan - you would need to get some photographs taken, and then get someone in authority who knows you - a GP or your employer perhaps, to verify your image. It rarely happens, as most people have a passport or a driving licence.

Melanie your posts are invaluable. I really appreciate all the help you have given me. The great thing about this forum is that you can get advice from a lot more people than if you just had your own IP to fall back on. I have learnt so much without having to cionstantly ring my IP for answers to questions and Melanie you have given a lot of that advice and I hope one day I can meet you to thank you personally.

That is very kind of you to mention. I love being a forum member and will continue to work hard to share my knowledge with others, and also gain a lot of additional knowledge from all of you invaluable forum posters.
I am sure that we will all meet up very soon - and I look forward to that very much.
I completely agree with ivas4u, the advice on this forum from everyone is great. To just have someone give you a little insight or answer your query, really does help put you at ease.
I feel that I have a lot of friends that I have never met in particular Melanie, David Mond, David & J (elv5) dand, kallis, skippy, Andy Davie, redrose76, cazlizzy to name a few. This forum has helped me so much even to the point that I dreaded BR but now if that is what the outcome is then so be it but I am sure David Mond and cleardebt will not allow this. I was worried that BR would prevent what for me has been a personal goal for so long to be a member of the Royal Chartered Institute of Surveyors (RICS) of which I am currently a student member and now I feel is that really so important. The main thing is to be happy, and when I am amongst my friends on this forum I am truly happy. I go to bed at night and hope that my friends on here get the outcomes that mean so much to them. I have never been religious (my view is that I do not need to go to church in order to become a good person I can show that in my actions, and I hope that I can help as many people as I possible can and I know my mumisnot proud of this statement as she has been a church warden and feels that this is how you show that you are a good person) Having said that I know David and J have thier own religious believes that I truly respect and I hope above anything else in my life that thier IVA is approved as I know that it will mean so much to them and it will to me as well. I can honestly say I would rather go bankrupt if it meant that thier IVA is approved as I feel that they are truly really great people. I also hope that dand and everybody else who has a creditors meeting looming also gets the outcome that they want and truly deserve. Good luck to you all.
