I think Melanie is talking about Secure Trust Bank plc - they have a web page - if you google it it will come up. J

Just rang to enquire about one of these new accounts and it costs 25.00 to set up and then 12.50 a month to manage your account!! You also cannot have a joint account, not the greatest thing in the world for people who have little cash!

Which card are you referring to Chris?

I admit that they can be expensive, but if you cannot get a bank account anywhere, they are always an option.

It has been posted on here before now, that basic bank accounts may cease to be, or a fee may be slapped on them.

Depending on how much that is, I would seriously consider swapping over to one.

I thought the basic accounts were by Govt edict; is the new (not yet in place) Peoples Bank by the Post Office due to come in soon or is it just Govt wishful thinking?

It was Melanie who posted either yesterday or the day before that she thought the days of basic bank accounts were numbered (I'm sure she will correct me if I am wrong).

Not heard about that Post Office account David.
