It is a common theme on here, and quite rightly so, that anyone considering an IVA as an option should be encouraged to speak to at least 2 or 3 providers before you make your choice. If you have not already done so, then you don't really have anything to lose by talking to another couple of providers.
Visit www.iva.com for a list of providers and be sure to let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your replies- all so helpful i wish id have found this forum sooner
One last question- if I do go to a different provider- what would the difference be as they have already had a meeting of my creditors who wouldnt agree and wanted the modifications
It all depends on your IP really. They need to work for you and the IVA has to be acceptable to you so if you do not agree with the modifications do not accept them and the IP should fight your corner. You will be fine but you need to get the ball rolling and get with a decent IP
I went through about six maybe seven firms before comming across Melanie and I would, from my personal experience, urge you to go with her. She is excellent and works really hard for her clients - mine was a difficult more or less one off type .Melanie got it through on 1st attempt.
I have had a great day today, actually, getting an IVA accepted for a client in the US who had previously been rejected when the proposal was presented by another firm last year. He is the nicest of chaps, and I am delighted with the result. It just goes to show that you should never give up if you genuinely believe that the right solution is being presented.
That is great Melanie - I have to say if it had not been for Tina I would have given up - the other firms I consulted hopeless! Tina forecast my result - got it right too!!!
Every day presents me with new challenges David - which enables me to explore my inner creativity in an attempt to demonstrate my clients particular circumstances.
We are not a sausage factory - never will be - and if my cases take a little longer to present than other firms, I make no apology for this. The nominee stage is the most important stage of the process, and I absolutely have to get it right, because if I don't I leave my clients at risk.
i need your help again- Ive gone through my options and have decided a debt management plan would be best for me for about 6 months with a view to look at applying for an IVA after this time
I was in talks with a company called bains and ernst who had up front charges of £220 to cover the negotiations with my creditors and then 150 thereafter before I even start making payments to my creditors
ive found a company called payplan who offer the same service with no up front charges and claim their service is free
Is this the case? am i best to go with bains because they are upfront and is payplan totally free?
Hi
Payplan is totally free, they are funded by the creditors along with The CCCS.
Which company do you feel comfortable with ?
Both are large companies, you may not receive the personal service that you may expect.
