Hi
I have been out of my IVA (completed) now since last October 2008. A couple of questions:
1. I still get calls from companies who were part of the completed IVA asking for their money, when I tell them I had a IVA which they were part of they ask me to send in the certificate of completion. I never had 1 call during my IVA this has only happened since it finished, why is this happening and what can I do as its inconvenient to have to keep writing and sending the completed certificate.
2. I find Equifax to be very helpful they even write to companies who have the wrong info on my credit report. However, when I write to the other agencies they do not seem to want to help or even clear my credit reports which were part of the IVA after the 6th year, they say not there problem its up to the previous debtor but Equifax will do this for me, why is this?
I worry that my bad credit from the IVA will be with me for a long time to come when I was told after 5 years you are debt free after 6 years all your debts will be off your credit file?

You should not still be getting calls now from creditors now that your IVA is completed.

I would tell the creditors that they are harrassing you if they continue to call and that you will report them.

It is actually up to the creditor to clear your credit file, not the CRA's. You need to check the reports from all three agencies and then then write to the creditors and insist that they remove any detrimental info which was recorded after your IVA was approved.

Your IVA should drop off after October this year.

Hi
There is no excuse for companies to keep contacting you. The debt is no longer valid.
No magic answer apart from writing and enclosing the certificate
Personally I would not write regading your credit report. There is a danger that if a creditor updates an entry from info that you supply that it will stay on there for a further six years. Best to allow your credit file to gradually end up as a blank canvas through time.
The IVA will be off your credit file six years from the start of your IVA. Other entries remain on your file six years from when they went on, eg defaults and CCJs.

Thank you both for your replies, I will take note and wait until October and see how the Credit report looks. I had a couple of letters from creditors and passed to my supervisor he sorted, but one called me out of the blue last week and said a letter was in post to me but nothing yet arrived over a week later. I just hope this is the end of it all, but I would like to have to hand a script to read to them to stop harrassing me.

I'm afraid my script would consist of two words - the second of which would be off!

Is it me, or are banks starting to get worse? I never heard of this a few years ago, and at a time when we are all supposed to be getting more efficient it does beggar belief sometimes.

Especially when Malcolm didn't get any calls in his IVA! Why on earth should they start calling now?
