Hi I am just about to sign an IVA and was advised to move away from my bank HBOS and set up a new account which I have done with Lloyds TSB now I have found out they are part of HBOS could this mean they could freeze my bank account

Hello and welcome.

They are not linked in that way as yet so you should be ok, once your IVA is approved then even if they do link in that way later on you should still be safe then as well.

Hi Alli
No - whilst they are part of the one banking group, they are still viewed as too individual banks - its abit like Natwest and RBS. So, in essence your account with Lloyds is safe.

Thanks

We were advised not to open an account with NatWest as I had debts with RBS.

I thought Natwest were owned by RBS rather than linked in the same way as Lloyds and HBOS?

It is always better to steer to a bank without any direct links if you can - you never know what might happen in the future with their internal policies.
