Hi, I have just started an IVA and I have just asked my bank, who are not one of my creditors, about opening a joint account with my partner, who is solvent and finacially secure and has an account with the same bank, and I was refused due to issues on my credit file.
When I called the bank again to explain my situation they informed me that because I am now in an IVA they no longer want my business and will be closing my account in 30 days! My current bank is First Direct who I have been with for many years. I have been in a debt management programme for the last three years with no problems at all, so I was frankly quite shocked by the way they treated just because I am now in an IVA. So my question is, are there any decent banks that actually offer a good service and allow people in my position to have a bank account?
First Direct do not like people who are in an IVA and will always close the accounts.
You could try the Co-op - they have an excellent reputation on here.

I would also recommend the Co-op if they aren't one of your creditors. Their basic Cashminder account is pretty good, and their customer service is excellent.
It is highly unlikely that HSBC will touch you if you are in an IVA.
Try the Co-op as recommended.

Co-op are very IVA sympathetic, I would recommend them every time.

I'm with Nationwide and have had no problems so far. Yorkshire Building Society are supposed to be good as well.
