Sorry if this has been asked in the past (I did try searching first)
I have been in financial difficulty for about a year and just about coping, but now I think it’s time I sorted myself out and get a IVA, my question is I have DV Clearance (Developed Vetting) which will be up for review in 2 years time, my question is where do I stand with regards to a IVA?? I'm a little scared asking the vetting office incase I lose my job.
I had that level of security clearance when I was in the Army, and there is a very detailed section which deals with your financial affairs. The IVA will have to be disclosed, but it is unlikely to affect your vetting. I have dealt with clients who have worked in very sensitive areas in the past, and have not known anyone lose their job over this - which you could do if you do not disclose the details.
in the defence and security world there are multiple levels of clearance. Basic (BC), Secure (SC) and Developed (DV) which allow you to work at higher levels of national security.
I was with the MOD for 10 years. I believe you should be fine with your DV clearance. If you have nothing to hide you can't be compromised. Be honest and upfront and all should be well. Good luck!!
