Hi there,

Really wish i'd found this site before now!! [:)]

I've just paid my last payment to the IVA company but have yet to hit the anniversary date (19th of this month). This morning i received a letter from one of the creditors detailing the outstanding balance. This is the first time i've heard from them in 5 years and it's worried me. I rang them up and they told me that by law they have to send these letters now, but it got me thinking.
Once my IVA is complete and i get the completion certificate, can creditors start harassing me again?

I always assumed that once the term was up the debts were cleared but having now seen this letter was 'outstanding balance' all over it, it's worried me that they might try getting more money out of me afterwards??!! [:(]

Hi
Lady H is totally correct, your creditors have to send out annual statements but once your IVA is concluded any debt will be written off

Well done on reaching the end.
Dont worry about creditors now, the IVA was legally binding and they have to abide by it the same as you have had to.

well done inside solution,my completion certificate came aprox 7 weeks after completion,i was advised by my ip it would take upto 2 months.an update on my credit file just had my reply from call credit today stating that they have updated my file with iva completed.credit expert and equifax have done the same.now thats sorted i am going to chase my X creditors to demand they remove defaults from my file that they have entered upto the present, on a monthly basis since my iva was started in 2006.onward and upward for me ,the pen is mightier than the sword.thanks again for skippy,s advice on this subject of credit files.it does take time but everythng is dropping into place like she said it would in her blog, well worth reading.

Why not start a blog and let people know how your IVA has been for you? We'd love to read it.

i know jan but mines finished now,i think peoples blogs like yours would be more interesting while still in a iva,i,ll think about it.what i will say ive found tackling problems like eg clearing up your credit files so the info is accurate and correct,is easy when debt free has you can concentrate and focus miles better, than prior or even while in a iva.my blood pressures normal now your more relaxed small irrations are just blown away.ofcourse everyone still have there ups and downs in life and money isnt everything.but i now appreciate looking back how well people do facing up to financial problems and endeavering to sort them out in many cases under exstreme pressure.iva,s bankruptcies, etc are good solutions to clear up debts in the medium term, but anybody who thinks its going to be a walk in the park are sadly dissillusioned.

Firstly a massive well done on completing your IVA. I as many others will know how hard of a journey you have had.

I have only 2 more payments until my 63 month journey has finished, and cannot wait for that last payment.

I wonder if anyone has done a step by step guide on what to do after the IVA, in regards to obtaining certificate, sorting your credit file etc. Surely it be worth a sticky on the forum as many people will need this advice.
Not sure what happened but I am all paid up and finished...they even owe me money now :)))

It's quite easy to start one. I'm afraid mine needs updating, but it's amazing how therapeutic it is.

Plus it gets read a long time after the threads have disappeared.
