I have just phoned them about my monthly house insurance payment and have been told that i havent been insured for the past 2 weeks as i didnt renew.my letter stated that as i pay by d/d my policy would automatically renew so i assumed they had done this but they hadnt because even though i have been with them for 5 years and have always paid monthly i have now failed a credit check.i have been in my iva 18 months and this didnt come up last year.i am horrified that i have had no insurance for 2 weeks.all the xmas presents that we had in the house ans what if something bad had happeneed i wouldnt have been covered as it was a house and contents policy.i am worrierd now as i have to find someone to insure who doesnt do creduit checks.any ideas would be welcome

Hi CJ

Sorry to hear about your insurance problems, we had some difficulties with Lloyd when we went IVA as they where one of our creditors. We switched to the post office. You could try them or your own bank or the coop they are good with people in IVAs

Good luck

whats a credit check got to do with running your insurance policys
when you pay monthly by d/d your in fact paying 1 month upfront and if your d/d didnt go through for some reason they can not cover you for that period anyway.
this is standard pratice across most insurance companies
i and most other people on here do exactly that and have no probs
try a few of the online ones like churchill and direct.
this the first one i have heard doing a credit check for something thats not technically credit based
cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards

Be very careful with Aviva - someone on the BR site had their car insurance cancelled without notice when they failed a credit check after BR.

I personally wouldn't touch Aviva - they made me feel like a criminal because I was BR when Dave tried to get contents insurance with them.

I have life assurance with them and everything has been fine....I guess car and home insurance are different as paying monthly does constitute a credit agreement.

Hi

Just read the threads - not sure on your age - If you are over 50 Try SAGA for Home and Car - there are great - can pay monthly and they are cheaper - we were with Aviva - long gone and much happier

Only thing si the age though - fine for over 50`s...

Good luck Richard[:)]

Have just been on moneysupermarket to get quotes.I decided to speak to kwik fit as they were cheap but when i got through to the site you had to say if you were bankrupt, which i am not,so i phoned them up and the very nice lady said they do insurance for people in an iva"not like some big companies" Any way the upshot is i am now insured and for £100 less than Aviva!!! I am still going to write them a snotty letter in the new year though.my only worry now is that i have a life insurance policy with them that i have had for years.I hope this wont be cancelled as i am a lot older now than when i took it out and not in the best of health as is my other half, it would cost a fortune to insure us with a new company.

My contents insurance is with Aviva, and so far have not had any problems with them.

We've even made a claim this year which was paid out without any problems.
