I know they are very sympathetic, but they're not very good for those of us who don't live anywhere near a branch!

I may only have a cash card, but I can access online banking, pay in at any Nationwide branch and withdraw from any ATM.

I won't even try to upgrade mine, I know they won't do it.

There seems to be a new breed of Visa Debit card, which still need full authorisation (like an Electron).

Just be warned, because for example on a train (I work on them) where Visa Debit is accepted, as there is no authorisation access, these cards will still decline. The Co-op Cashminder account now comes with one of these Visa Debits.

Building society visa cards are great. Many are offering them Whilst the banks and Nationwide refuse it even though there is no credit allocated to the card?? Barmy??

I have dumped all my prepaid card rubbish except for the cashplus and as for the visa electron I keep for the dust to setle.Prepaid cards are for children.

We all need a Visa Debit card, it's a breach of human rigts to be declined for one! The banks even the N.W are the biggest let downs. Giving us less for our custom?

To say that prepaid cards are for children is actually quite patronising and offensive to people who cant's get a debit card.

How come you've kept the Cashplus card if you're so against prepaid cards?

I take exception to that comment as well.

I love my prepaid cards and wouldn't be without them. They teach me a valuable budgeting lesson.

I like Nationwide - couldn't care less that I only have a cashpoint card at the moment.

I think the Nationwide and other banks should wakeup and look at a marketing chance for people in our circumstances and provide debit cards without a overdraft. If a small building society like Norwich Peterborough can upgrade their basic banking customers why cant the big boys? I will close my account and arrange for my salary to be transferred to N/P.
PREPAID CARD are convenient I do not have one but money supermarket reviews can help you decide which are the best prepaid cards.

Whilst not having a debit card can be an inconvenience, I really don't mind having just a cash card. I know exactly what I am doing with my budgeting then.

I know that there are times with a debit card when you can go overdrawn without realising it.
