Have spent a lot of time in the last few days reading this forum - am so pleased to have found it.
My husband got made redundant last year, and has so far not found any work. He's an architect and the construction industry has suffered terribly in the recession.
What with one thing and another, we are now in dire straits and it looks like an IVA for me (he has no personal debt) is the way to go to be able to keep our heads above water, and to keep our house.
I have read a lot about a lady called Melanie, she seems fab, and I am going to email her over the weekend, once I have plucked up the courage to open the letters from the credit card companies to add up how much is actually owed!
A bit about me, I'm 34, been married almost 6 years, have a little boy who will be 4 this year, live in London (with Welsh hubby) and work for London Underground.
Welcome to the site Rachel......I would normally recommend you speak to a couple of IP's but to tell the truth if your speaking to one of Melanies team first then you'll be speaking to one of the best and very well respected IP's to start with.
In any event do not delay in opening all your credit letters and picking up the phone to Melanie or one of the team. The quicker you open them and get some advice the quicker a solution to your debt can be found. As you will of read on these forums you are not alone and if required will get the full support of some great people on this site together with expert help from Melanie, Size 5 and many others.
Good luck.
I came into this world with nothing and still have most of it left!
Rachel, I would just like to confirm what Pennyless has said with just one extra comment - as far as my husband and I are concerned Melanie is not one of the best she is the best. Melanie has done a great deal for us well beyond her professional responsibilities - no doubt she will do the same for you and your family. J
Hi Rachel75 a very warm welcome from me - you will be in great hands, Melanie is a brilliant lady, she in always here to help everyone whether they are her clients or not, absolutely superb.
Well done to you, you've taken your first step, now open up those envelopes and give Mel a call, and as everyone has already said we are all here for you, if you have any questions - or if you want a moan or just a chat. [:)]
As everyone has said, you're in excellent hands with Mel and her team.

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

You will certainly be in the best of hands with Melanie . As she is Welsh herself and a big rugby fan you might even get better than her usual gold service.
Seriously welcome to the forum from myself and I am with Melanie and she is a wonderful lady who lives in the real world and is a very fair IP. My 2nd review just gone in and although my time in an IVA has had a few hiccups, Melanie is always there above and beyond working hours.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
I can remember Tina making me feel at ease too Rachel, she certainly is a nice lady, everybody I've spoken to in Melanie's team has been both professional and friendly.

Hi Rachel, I am just beginning my IVA journey and I too am with Melanie. I can whole heartedly say that you are in very safe hands with her team as so far they have been nothing but helpful and reassuring. It has been a long time since I have been able to wake up in the morning without my stomach churning at the thought of what might be waiting in the post for me from the cc companies, but at last I feel like the weight is easing off my shoulders and I am going to be able to do something about my debt situation. My only regret is that I didn't find this site sooner and get the balling rolling months ago.
