Over the past few days I've started receiving an automated phone call saying that I can clear off off all debt etc due to some new government legislation and don't hang up etc etc, I obviously hang up each time but it looks like someone has got my phone number from the insolvency register and is touting for some new business.

Just wondering has anyone else been getting this phone call recently ?

I've not heard of anyoneg getting the automated calls. Do they mention a company name?

They will be either a bankruptcy assist firm, or one of the ones who reckon they can get your loans etc written off if there is no credit agreement.

You do best to ignore them.

I apparently won a Caribbean Cruise yesterday, sadly I didn't have time to take all the call!

I have been getting those calls for a little while now and I am mystified as to how they have got my number as my IVA hasn't gone through yet so Im not on the insolvency register.

Try joining the Telephone Preference Service and the Mail Preference Service, I joined both and it does help although it doesn't stop it, but if I do receive a letter I do always quote them in my reply.,

Lol, I have joined both and you are right it does help but my number is still out there somewhere. I am lucky enough to have a caller id display phone so I just tend to ignore withheld numbers now.

I never wait till the end of the phone call so I do not know who the company is, the phone call gets to a point where it says 'press 2 for further information' and then I hang up.
My number is listed with the T.P.S. and is also ex directory so it looks like its been obtained thru the Insolvency Register[:(!]

Now had 3 in the last wk, wonder how long they will carry on till they get the message?

I get them from time to time and so does my friends and even had them on my direct line work number. I think they just dial random numbers and try their luck.

I have pressed the keypad in work and you get through to someone who asks "how can we help you clear your debt"....or words to that affect [:D]

I just hang up when they call now.

I get the calls at home and at work on the business line and I am not on the Insolvency Register.
I think it is just a random dialler.

We also get them at work, I think they are just random as our work number is ex-directory.

I'm ex directory on both of our phone numbers, and we have never had any cold calling at all.
