Hi, my IVA has now been in place for eighteen months and all is going well. I have a question about reduction in income due to industrial action, I think I know the answer but as you have all been so helpful before, I thought I should check on the right advice.

My union has declared a two day strike next month which will obviously reduce my monthly income. I am assuming that as it would be my own decision to support the strike, my IP would not entertain any temporary reduction in my monthly contribution due to reduction of income? As I said, I think I know the answer but would feel happier with advice from professionals.

Best Wishes

John

I think that an IP would probably be happy enough for you to pay less for the month if you can make it up over the next few months. Talk to them directly about it rather than struggling by with less money coming in.

It would be your own decision to take industrial action, and you would need to run it by your own IP.

Personally, I wouldn't take srike action. I have other commitments apart from my IVA and could not afford to not pay them.

Wouldn't be the first time I have crossed the picket line.

Do you have a choice in this matter? If so, and you decide to exercise that choice in favour of not getting paid, then I feel that you need to find some other way of funding the shortfall - not from creditors money.
