I have just began an iva with McCambridge Duffy, who have been excellent to work with. My IVA hasnt been accepted yet but I have a debt to Provident (home collected credit) who call every week to collect money - do I still pay them each week or just stop now, its just that I have to give the £95 per week and they will be calling next weekend again.
Personally, I would not pay this debt now that you have started down the IVA route.
I am sure that Michael Peoples will be on to tell you what McCambridge Duffy's policy is.

hi there, welcome to the forum. I too had a loan with Provident and explained that i was entering into an IVA and have not paid them as you cannot favour one creditor over another. So they have stopped calling now and I just receive letters saying I owe money. but hopefully my IVA meeting will be called shortly. Hope this helps.
You can make token payments to your creditors if you wish.
Hopefully, once you tell Provident what is happening, they will leave you alone.

Totally agree with the advice given. You may want to write a letter to Provident and give your IP details, this will save you from explaining to the collector.
You should either pay all of your creditors pro-rata payments in the run up to the presentation of IVA proposals, or pay nothing in order to maintain a fair balance amongst your creditors.
In my experience Provident are pretty understanding once they become aware that you are seeking advice with regard to an IVA.
Hi Hilary and welcome from me too.
As the others say there is normally no problem with Provident and regardless all creditors have to be treated equally. It may be that the collector is unaware of what an IVA is or does try and collect anyway but if there are any problems give ua a ring straightaway. Best of luck with the meeting of creditors.
i had a loan with provident too. i phoned to tell them i would not be paying as i was proposing an iva. the man on the phone was a bit blunt and tried to convince me to do dmp instead. the collector still arrived on sunday morning but i told him i wasn't paying and that i had spoken to his manager on the phone and he said he'd knock again in a month if it wasn't sorted out. he came again a couple days after our iva was approved just to let us know that he wished us well for the future. it wasn't as bad as i expected
