Hello, we have debts at £54000, and no assets, we have been told we have £123.00 a month to put into a iva, next june my hp car is ended and that would put another £210.00 a month towards a iva, but not sure who to go with, Baines and erst keep phoning but you have to pay 2 months upfront before the iva is set up, when i spoke to dfd they told me i had £12.00 a month spare but could help set up a step iva, and debt lifeboat have said they will match that monthly payment. I dont know who to trust, some friendly advise would be great, thanks

You do need to speak to a professional as Lesley says. The experts who post on here do come highly recommended.

I am curious as to what a step iva is? Not heard that term before.

I may be very wrong but I wondered if it was where it starts with a low payment into the IVA and when the car finance finishes the payment increases?

I suspect that a "step IVA" is an internal term within that firm for a case where payments start at one rate and then move to another.

You should not go with any firm who tells you what you can afford to pay. This should be worked out by yourselves based upon your actual income and expenditure in the first instance, and the IP firm you choose to represent you will then be able to advise you as to whether those figures are likely to be accpetable to creditors.

To say that they will match the figures of the previous firm is rather tacky - when it does not sound as if any research has been carried out into your individual circumstances.

Is this the new low for IVA's,price matching with other companies???

Shocking behaviour and quite a slur on the good IVA firms out there.

I wish I knew this website before I chose which company to use. Not had any problems with Blair Endersby (baines&Ernst) but I chose which ever one came up 1st in Google as I didn't know. If I had known of this site I would have gone for Mels team. I hear nothing but positive feedback from her company where as B&E is mixed!
