You definately must speak to more than just Blair. Unfortunately we went with Blair have been referred to them by a debt management company and unfortunately I did not find this website until we were well into the IVA. You must definately speak to more than just blair, whatever time it takes it will be worth the time. If could turn back time and followed this action then I definately would do. Mikey
I am one of the fools that went with the 1st company I spoke to. I didn't know of this forum and I am sure if I had my choice would have been different. The fact that my debts were being sorted was such a relief that I wasn't thinking straight. I have been lucky that my IVA has been fine and no major problems, even though the reviews for my original company were poor.
Any advice I would give to anyone looking at the IVA route is to research IP's and sign up with who you feel comfortable with as you will working with them for years. Don't rush into signing with the first company you deal with.

Nothing you can buy feels as good as not being in debt.
You weren't a fool Jan, you did what the majority of us who hadn't found the forum did.
We didn't know any better at the time.
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt
The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

Sadly a lot of people find this great forum after they have taken the plunge with whatever solution they see fit to addressing their financial mess.
The lucky ones like myself, stumble across the forum whilst doing the research, and have access to such a depth of knowledge it helps to guide us and answer the many questions we have relating to an IVA.
Anyone who does come across this forum, before committing, must surely see from posts such as this one, that it is an essential prerequisite to speak with 2 or more IPs before entering a 5 year journey with your chosen IP.

I did exactly the same Jan, and I don't think that either of us are fools. We did what we had to do at the time to sort our debts out. Like you, if I'd known more at the time I would have done things differently.
I was a very lucky fool as we went to the first company we spoke to back in 2006 and fortunately for us Melanie is our IP. Didn't know anything about this forum back then. [:)]
