We do not know the full facts, and may never do.

You do not know if anything else pushed him over the edge.

I don't think we should judge anyone.

I`m not judging, Kallis...As I posted, I find it difficult to believe that financial problems alone could drive a man to do what this guy did.

I totally agree, and I was not having a go at you Goosed.

It is unlikely that we will ever know the reasons behind this.

There but for the grace of God!

I think there must be more to it than debt, it's just maybe that the debt issue was the first and easiest thing the press could find. I wouldnt judge a soul as we are all so different, but as a single mum it must take something really really bad to drive you to take the lives of your children. But anyone can snap in the right or wrong circumstances. It's a tragedy. x

You would hope that it was more than debt, which was the catalyst for this poor soul to take the action he did.

I would hazard a guess that debt did in someway play a big part in this horrific event. Assumption is the mother of all evil, and I am sure more information will come to light in the forthcoming days.

I am sure it will but as we all know the press position things to suit a cause so I think we need to bear that in mind. Debt is such a hot topic and debt companies can often have an unfair bad press so it could become a focus on debt being the issue but we will never know. No-one knows what goes on in anyone's private lives and unforuntately there is no-one to left to give the full facts about their private life.

I think all we all know is this poor man did an unimaginable thing so must have been in a place which I hope none of us will ever come anywhere close to. One thing alone would never normally drive anyone to do anything like this and if it ever was driven by one thing, the person would have had such an instability that only a complete psychiatric professional would have been able to help them with.

I am sure you will all have offline conversations about this with colleagues, family, friends etc and lets be the ones to keep the perspective on this if those around you jump on the bandwagon to blame debt (many not knowing that you yourselves are dealing with it yourselves). We know the pain and stress debt can casue to lives but where this man ended up was in a different league and we can never know really what the whole picture was.

Wise words from all of you. Apart from the immediate family and friends, my good friend Mark Allen who is the IP in this particular case will be absolutely distraught.

Mark has a young family of his own, and unfortunately the job that we do occasionally encounters difficult situations - with regret I have had three of them in my working life.

This is such a sad story. When i saw the paper and read that they were saying he was facing bankrupcy it made me wonder if they were using this to make a story.

I hate the thought that debt would drive anyone to do something like this, it is just so very sad.

But no one knows the stresses withing a family or a relationship.

I hope they all rest in peace.

I think sometimes Melanie people do not realise what debt can make people do as in the experiences you and your colleagues must have had.

I just hope the media calms the stories down until the facts (if ever!) are known.

This is most bizarre - not only are we a name match, but i am just starting on the road to an IVA.
My experience so far is that it can be very strassful just collating the information, but thankfully, Melissa Giles and team are very helpful.
How sad that the guy took this sad route. How important to rely on family, friends and forums such as this!

Very Sad to hear this. My own IVA started Sep 06 , my IVA company is Grant Thornton. It really makes you rethink how bad things really are , or not. To have done such a terrible act, this man must have been right on the edge.
RIP for him and his poor family.

Andy, let me tell you, when his name was quoted our team were frantic it was you but discovered it was a different Andy Case.

You'll be well looked after by Melissa (!) and the team.

Tina
Thanks for your concern - several people have checked with me recently that things are still ok. It's not a very common name, so got a few people quite worried.
Just shows how bad things can get for some people - thoughts are with all their family right now.
