and it wasnt too bad !! I explained my situation told her I was applying to do an IVA, she then wanted my reference number...oh, I said my IP doesnt deal with numbers so name etc given. Account now on hold for 30 days. I actually feel a little relieved...although I will admit to not answering previous calls from them today. Daughter dear answered the phone and then asked me why I was shaking !!! [:I][:I]
See Jan...thats me opening my big mouth the other day !! x

Well done you! Deal with them all like that and then end the call. You've come a huge way since your first post xx

Well done Scaredykat..
I am expecting the calls to start next month as this is when the payments will not be made. Have not made up my mind yet whether to be brave and answer or ignore when the number is not recognized on caller ID!!

Proud of you! Once you have done this a couple of times it will become a breeze, and most creditors are actually quite polite when you get them talking.

Yep I agree. First one I had was terrible, I was shaking like a leaf! Now I just tell them straight. Glad you had a positive responce to the 'no ref number' question, I wasn't so lucky, but at the end of the day we are all sorting out our problems so they can just wait![:D] Well done!
Trying to be thrifty!

I was almost in tears by the time I rang my first one.

I thought they understood at the time. Then I got a letter saying my 10.00 token payment wasn't enough and I should be paying pro rata and they wanted...

Today I've had five telephone calls from them asking for immediate payment as my credit card is over the limit. A credit card with a limit of 10k and a balance of 2.5k that they decided to cap at 2.5k then decided to add interest.

That's an 'ethical' bank for you.

It's a tough time for those waiting for meetings and I can remember it well, but it does pass, hang in there and hopefully it won't be too long until you're all telling them I'm in an IVA x

I thought sitting in the dentist's waiting room was bad. It's nothing compared to this :)

This is what i did.

Sent letters to all my creditors and informed them I would not be able to speak to them on the phone, at work also. I informed them that I would respond to any letters or emails. I got a extra mobile number to give to familly and freinds, a answer machine to filter calls and didnt respond at all to silly threats of visits. When I knew I was starting the IVA I contacted them all by letter and informed them. I didnt go through any of the stress some people do and certainly did not have to deal with the disturbing calls.

good luck

Well done for speaking to them. I was a coward and never did. I also wrote and told them I'd only deal by letter. Didn't work though!

Just hang in there. Things will get better soon!

Well done:-)
I have given up talking to my creditors as all most have done is try to trick me into paying money to them!
yesterday had a letter from Barclaycard saying they have put my limit up to £10500!!! BUT I have to pay them £480 NOW (it was in capitals on the letter) before I will be allowed to use up to that limit.
I now know how a reformed alchoholic must feel when someone keeps offering them a drink, luckily I have my eyes wide open :-)
