I think a lot of us would be signing that!

It certainly can't hurt.

I think the register is a good thing but only for vetted professionals, not Joe Public as Andy says.

These BR firms who abuse it could then be cut off as soon as they are reported for abusing the register. The good professionals could then still have access to it for proper purposes.

Petition time it is I think and maybe these guys will listen for once.....

I agree 100 percent. It's sickening to think that this register is open for anyone to abuse.

I would definitely sign a petition. Its ridiculous that there's such a thing as data protection where we're all advised to shred things, etc, in case of identity fraud and yet, you only have to click on the mouse a few times and find name, addresses and date of birth of a fair few thousand people in the country. Disgraceful.

Its very naughty our names should appear on the register, after all its supposed to be a private formal arrangement between the creditors and ourselves via the IP, thats what I was told anyway when first took out my IVA.

I agree with Waltons,Lukeofyorkshire and all - let's sign that petition when it becomes available as it is clearly unfair to make public the details of people who are going through legal avenues to pay off their debts, yet are named and shamed on this register - where is the public register for those with firearms convictions, paedophilia convictions & GBH convictions for us all to see? I am not aware that there is one, which just proves that if you owe money the Government makes sure that you are publicly shamed for years - small mercy that our phone numbers and e-mail addresses are spared publication too!

Don't get me started on Government and the politicians who run them (Whatever party they may be).

I used to be a politician and hated it and the type of people who go into it (Only about 10% of them are genuine what I would call REAL people and those like me get disillusioned and quit)

There was a petition a while back, but unfortunately it didn't do any good.

I fully agree why should we be on a public register an IVA is supposed to be private

I have no idea what to do. It's disgusting our names and addresses and DOB is there for all to see. Okay I get creditors and employers and landlords seeing it they need to but I don't think my nosey neighbours, backstabbing friends, oblivious family or Mr Con-Man/Scary Bailiff should be able to. The whole point of a DRO/IVA is to get action stopped creditors written off and awY from you. Any one could write to me or come round if I get this DRO but I'm running out of options
DRO? I don't know...

This makes me angry and i think i have expressed my thoughts on this before many moons ago, this register should only be available for those that need that information and should only be divulged after paying a fee!
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

I totally agree about the register, however I didn't know it existed until I read about it on here and I'm sure I'm not alone. So even though it is very much public, I don't believe anyone outside of a repayment plan would be aware of it.

I would like to see a better controlled register and would gladly sign another petition.
