I read last week with interest the post regarding AAT membership whilst having an IVA.

Since reading the post I contacted the AAT (as I have recently started my intermediate level) to inform them that I entered into an IVA since I first registered with AAT last year.

I was advised that I have to send in a load of paperwork and then their Compliance Team will assess my suitability and if I can continue as a member and with my studies.

I have to be honest I am extremely worried that I am going to lose my membership as this will mean I cannot sit exams.

I have already completed Foundation level and for my career I need to complete Technicial level. How am I going to qualify if the AAT take all of my membership away?

I was led to believe when entering into my IVA that there would be no impact on my AAT studies whatsoever as they were only interested in people with past bankruptcy issues.

I had the humiliation of telling my tutors last night my situation. I havent been able to stop crying since as I am just so scared of losing membership.

Has any one else had dealings with this? Any help and advise is very much appreciated.

Thanks

I am sure that the AAT are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut here. Get your IP to write you a reference confirming that you are up to date with your payments and fully co-operative with the whole process. That ought to do the trick, but do let us know how you get on.

I have read that 'victoriaplumb' has been accepted by the AAT. I hope this will be the case of for me!

This information has given more confidence in my own predicament.

Still waiting for a statement from my IP however which is holding things up. Think I will have to chase them today as I cant keep delaying things.

Best of luck, I'm sure it will be alright given the other evidence presented here regarding other people.
1st payment Oct 2008, last payment Dec 2013. Certificate received March 2015 due to PPI claim.

Hi I am also starting a level 3 AAT in Accountancy and at the moment I dont have a IVA but it is possible 6 months down the line i might have. Will that be a problem for my course as i wont enter into one then and continue trying to find the money to pay my creditors from other means.

I would put an anonymous call into them to check their current policy - as I have heard that they can be picky about this sort of thing. I think another forum member recently got formally reprimanded for entering into an IVA but the AAT which to be frank is bizarre.
