I am been reading the posts here & they make me feel that the action I have taken today is the right one. But I still have many questions - I have spoke with two people about setting up the iva: one a woman from Vincent Bond ... I found her rather agressive but that might have just been my initial 'what am I doing?' fear then two men from Freeman Jones ... I found them much better, they explained things very clearly & I finished the conversation feeling quite positive aside from my alarm at having to set up a new bank account. I have applied for a new account on-line so that is the first step. I certainly do not want the iva to start until I know that my monthly wage will be in a safe, new account. I want my direct debits for services all the transferred as well.
Do forgive my rambling ... no doubt once I hear from the 'new' bank I will be calmer.[8)]
I am surprised at the response from VB as they do come highly recommended on here, and one of our experts is a top debt consultant working for them.
Which bank have you gone with?

You are not rambling I had the same fear and it seemed to take forever for my new account to be opened. It was actually only just over a week, but once I had told my employer my new bank details I felt a bit better.
My timing was a bit out because I started the IVA process and wages got paid into my old account a few days later. I spent the next few days going to the cash machine and drawing out cash leaving enough to ensure my DD's were paid. They have all been paid now so I don't care if my old bank finds out.
As setting up an IVA takes some time you are quite safe to start the process, once you are happy that is the route you want to take, whilst you sort out your new bank account.
Hello,
i am currently using freeman jones for our IVA and so far have found them to be very efficient,it took us 3 weeks to sort paper work and get a date for the creditors meeting which is on 18th oct. I think this should give you time to sort your bank account out as they have to give creditors 17 days before voting at the meeting(i think)that's how ours is being done anyway.
I did all my direct debits myself so i wouldn't get in a mess with our money.
I don't know what account you have set up? ours is a natwest step account that i originally set up on line but it turned out quicker to do it in the branch, just make sure you have plenty of ID and a utility bill with adress on.
I hope this makes sense,i am no expert myself and this is just our personal situation!!
IVA STARTED OCT 2010,LAST PAYMENT 18TH NOVEMBER 2016. COMPLETION CERTIFICATE ARRIVED 17TH DECEMBER 2016.

Vincent Bond do come highly recommended. Can I ask who it was you spoke to there?
I think Freeman Jones have a good reputation as well.
