Orange,
Mine is a very complicated issue. I split from my ex wife, and moved out of our house Oct 2008. Discovered she was having an affair. This was my second marriage - 1 boy from first marriage but none thank god from this one. She has a disabled child though who lived with us who is 14. The mother in law also lived with us. To cut a long story short i was getting out loans to cover her supposed sick pay to support the mortgage - all in my sole name. She was actually taking me for a mug, and since splitting up and i moved back to my folks house she has been on benefits ever since, moved her fella in the mo i left.I tried to sell the house through divorce but she has hung onto it!
My name still linked to it as security, but ive just got a consent order agreed that states house must be placed on the market by the end of my IVA. Most of the debts i had to place into an IVA consisted of 3 loans. 2 to support her salary while off sick long term, and 1 to pay her mum back to money she had lent her...the rest is the dreaded credit cards..most of which was paid on a holiday for us....which she ended up taking with her fella!GRRRR
Im not bitter...much
Happines...well im terrified of ladies now, live in a pink box room at my folks, and have little to my name, as i expect many on here do..have met a girl 10 yrs my senior (through a support network),and we get along fantastically...only downside being she is in Edinburgh while im in London so its long distance right now.
Ive been in my IVA 1 year since Nov 2009

Sorry for rambling

Thanks Orange..

By the way i dont see me commuting to Edinburgh from London daily..bit of a trek and slightly impossible..want her to move down but not sure she will..also theres the IVA holding me back from doing anything anyway..cant rent, and even if i moved up there would need a job on same salary and thats difficult to find in scotland..

I`m actually hoping I`ll not be able to remortgage and have to pay an extra year on my IVA...It`ll be better paying twelve more IVA payments than having an increased mortgage and paying the extra interest on it for over however long that would be.

i thought that if your house was in negative equity, you then finalise the iva, and if their was equity but you couldnt release it then you have to go the extra yr please correct me if i'm wrong, or does it solely depend on the terms.

i guess at least its not over the long term is it.over in 1 year.we had no equity so had no choice but to go for one more year .we have 11 payments to go

I think it does depend on the terms. If mine is below £5k (which it won't be) then it completes in 5 years.

I think some people have to have a variation meeting to agree an extra 12 months in lieu of equity.

Depends on when your IVA was taken out.
