Self interest threats are a recognised ethical issue to all of us IP's, we are after all in business to earn a living, I do not suspect anyone on here is a charity ?

However to restate the reason this has run on a bit

"To intimate that an owner managed IP business is in someway superior to independent contractors/employees presents an unbalanced view, which is not necessarily correct."

That is what needed addressing.

Are you an IP reregistered? If so it would be interesting to know who you work for.

Some of the best IP's I have worked with have been sole practitioners, some have been employed. The nominees for the "Insolvency and Rescue awards" show that several IP's working for big firms offer excellent service. Ellie McKinnon from DFD was nominated and I know that she, like Mel, works all hours of the day and is always accessible for her clients. I know Ellie personally having had the pleasure of working with her day and night and to somehow suggest that because she is employed rather than owning the business that she is somehow "less good" than other owner managed IP's is somewhat degrading

Yes I am a licensed IP, who qualified by sitting the JIEB exams. I have c. 15 years experinece of advising individuals in distressed situations.

I do not wish to disclose who I work for as I wish for my views to be completely impartial, independent, and objective. I do not wish to be acused of soliciting for work and have not added any contact details for people to contact me to assist with their IVA.Please respect my anonymity, and don't "out me" like they did with the Stig ! From my personal experience I would choose a small company any day. I don't doubt that the larger companies do a good job, but having experienced an IVA with a large company I would much rather be able to speak my IP or an experienced member of staff, rather than someone in a call centre.

I have to say that I am with one of the larger companies, and am quite happy with them so far.

Reregistered, I'm surprised you won't tell us which company you work for as I'm sure we have posters on here who use the company and would be glad if you were able to help them if they had problems as all our other IPs and experts do.

Surely if posters need help they would simply just need to ring their IVA provider up rather than having to go through the forum all the time?

Not all posters like to keep phoning their IP all the time, they like the support and general advice that this forum gives. Sometimes, when they are having problems speaking with their company, it helps to have an expert from their company posting on here and many a problem has been solved in this way.

When I say IP, I mean the company. I know that Mel speaks to all of her clients personally.
