Hi it would appear that it is normal practice for BG to do this and we don't seem to know why. I'm sure you would be ok to change suppliers but on this point I'm not 100% but I'm sure someone else will be along soon who does know x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

BG did this to me. They then wrote to say it had been a horrible mistake and reinstated me with a new account number, writing off almost £400 from the old account in the process! This amount wasn't a debt in the normal sense - it was the running balance at the end of a long, cold winter on a monthly payment scheme, which would have been cleared during the summer if they'd just left things lie. Bonkers!

How stupid is that?

I really don't know why BG have to do this.

It should be sorted soon.

I rang them, spoke to someone in their collections department and they changed their mind and wrote straightaway. I might have a record of the conversation somewhere at home (I'm away on business this week). Let me know if want me to try and find the record of the call.

I must add though that it took my IP's firm weeks to sort out with BG what they wanted to claim in the IVA, which was a complete pain considering the relatively small amount in the scheme of things. In the end they claimed nothing!

I remember dealing with that, and it certainly added a few grey hairs to certain Mrs Lawson's head!!

Unfortunately BG are well known for doing this. I'm pretty sure they do it to everyone.
