I am changing job and rang up today to change my payment date from the15th to the 31st. They were really rude to me. I am not missing a payment and once its changed i Will pay each month end. They don't send the money to the creditors each month. I wish i hadn't called them i was trying to plan ahead it seems easier to miss a payment. The whole thing worries me sick.

I would have thought that you could change the date, especially if your salary date has changed. Speak to them again and tell them that you won't be able to pay before the end of the month.

If you pay by standing order then just alter the date at the bank.

As Jan says if it's standing order you can do it yourself via your bank or online banking. If it's more convenient to you to pay on salary payment date, I can't personally see the problem as you'll still be paying in that month and there is never any need for rudenes. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I ended up speaking to a manager he was ok but said i needed proof. He said i could change the standing order and then send proof cos he didn't want me to then change the date in Feb or miss payments. Should i just stop worrying and pay at month end? He said the creditors know when i get paid?? I spoke to someone else when i first thought this would happen and they said it would be fine. I just panic so really grateful for advise thanks everyone.

Hi Chester/Steph,

Don't worry, it sounds like they have everything under control.

It's just such a shame that they were rude to you. What day of the month was your IVA accepted? Unless changing your payment date puts you in arrears I don't understand why it would even be an issue.
Take care,

Liam James

They say it was the 8th and therefore i am going over the 30 days by moving the payment. I did point out that they don't send the payment every month but he said the creditors would know and they would ask why. It would have been Easier to just miss a payment. I am with kingsgate.

Rang cleardebt and was done on the phone in seconds, no questions asked. Shouldnt be a problem.

It seems a bit harsh that they are being like that when you will only be in arrears for 14 days of the month. Creditors do not get a monthly report regarding your payments and even if it came to doing your annual review and you were showing in arrears they could state the reason for the arrears in the report and that should keep your creditors pretty happy. We have a number of clients who have changed jobs/payment date and show in arrears for a few days or so a month but as long as we know about it there is no problem. I would have a chat with your IP if possible and see what he/she has to say on the matter.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Changing payment date couldn't be easier. Paying so late in the month means it will need to be a standing order rather than a direct debit. Otherwise I can't see the problem; recently changed myself with no fuss at all. Keep on at them! You may be in arrears for a couple of days a month but with your ip's sanction this really isn't a problem.

There is no excuse for IP staff being rude to clients, and I suggest that you arrange a chat with the IP directly, firstly to confirm that the change of payment date is acceptable and secondly to mention this unfortunate experience to them.

Laura, I have changed your user name as you are not allowed company details in there unless you are an expert.
