Hi, and yes an IVA is tough but its not scrouge round the reduction fridges at your local supermarket 20mins before they close type of stuff, although maybe once a week eh?? lol
I find life much easier, i have set payments every month and a set salary, i know exactly where i am each year.
Holidays the first 3 years of my IVA it was camping in Weymouth, and a friend has a hoilday cabin in scotland so we used that a couple of times, just had to pay for petrol. Last year a trip to Lanzarote which my other half paid for and in 5 weeks time, not that im counting im off to Lanzarote again, although this was funded through ebay and selling loads of stuff.
The time does go by, some have said think of it as a 5/6 year payment plan, and the bonus is when i work overtime 50% of it is mine, back in the debt days overtime got swallowed up by the overdraft.
The one thing i do miss, is beers with the lads on a saturday night or football games, but looking at the way the Villa have played this season haven't missed much. But hey thats life in a 12 months time i get that bonus of all that cash i was paying into my iva is mine.

Antm,
Great way of looking at things and an inspiration to me at least knowing that hols (albeit not as frequent or exotic) sound possible with a bit of imagination in saving here and there (have thought of the ebay/car boot sale a few times).
Never been one for the beers with friends (well only at xmas), but having kids I want to try and make this as painless as possible so need to get my thinking cap on.
Ah ant, I'd forgotten about the ebay stuff. this can add up quite quickly. Just need to make time to do it LOL. And definately donig the car boots again this year, last year I never managed to get round to it and have got loads of old toys to sell.
Jan - my tent is ensuite! Happy to lend it to you both for a week - you could relive that camping experince you had as a police cadet in our wonderful land!
