If there are defaults on your record after the date of IVA acceptance then they have to remove those defaults.
I'm afraid that you will probably still find it difficult to get a mortgage as even people with a perfect credit rating are suffering. You will need a hefty deposit as well.

Hi - the latest the accounts can be defaulted is the date your IVA was accepted.
The quickest way to get this done is to go straight to the complaints departments of your creditors and threaten them with the ICO if they don't rectify the defaults within 28 days. No point larking around with the customer services departments as they will take their sweet time.
Congrats on the completion and let us know how you get on with the mortgage. Lots of us on here are desperate for news that we will be mortgage-worthy when we finish!
Thanks for the speedy response guys. I have one default registered on 17/09/05 from Welcome Finance and I will call them tomorrow to ask for this to be removed.
I have two quick questions..
1. Who is the ICO?
2. I have partially settled (balance is £0)accounts from Halifax that show a date of Dec 2005 even though they agreed to the IVA. Can I also ask them to amend the settled date to the date the IVA was agreed? As they show negative payment history and will stay there until Dec 2011...
Thank you so much for the advice I really appreciate it. I'm praying that I can have all this negative stuff removed along with my IVA record in March!
You should be able to get Halifax to change that date, write to their head office and enclose a copy of your completion certificate and tell them to amend their records.

I'm not sure about settled dates as presumably that is the date the IVA was completed rather than started. Hopefully, someone who knows about this will be able to shed some light.
As well as removing the negative stuff you need to be putting some positive records on there, No credit record is as bad as a duff one! You need some green ticks from the likes of mobil phone contracts or credit card repayments --- even if it's one of the high interest jobs liek vanquis ---- you will be making small purchases and paying in full each month, so the interest rate isn't a problem ----- but you have to be disciplined with it.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it. I am going to contact Welcome Finance and Halifax tomorrow. I will keep you posted.
Also I do have a mobile phone bill thats fully upto date. I am going to wait until the IVA has fallen off then I will get a credit card from my bank and use it/pay off in full each month.
Thanks again and I will definitely keep you updated. Good luck with the IVA's guys and make sure your creditors have all the correct information (dates etc) so you don't run into issues like me!
good luck and heres to a debt free future for us all!
You may find that your bank won't give you a card, but you could try something such as Vanquis. High APR but if you pay if off in full each month it won't cost you but will help build up your credit record.

I know some of our other posters have a Vanquis card post IVA, however I have also read of someone being refused but can't remember who it was offhand. So not sure it's a definite acceptance. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Vanquis is your best bet,if you join the credit ref company like EQUIFAX they will help you update your credit file if you ask them.it will take 6 years after the start of the iva to get your teeth into any proper cleaning of your credit files.

Guys just to keep you in the loop I applied to capital one and got accepted with a 1k limit. I don't want a credit card to be honest but it's just to build my credit rating up. Onward and upward keep the faith fellow iva'ers!
