The Welsh asbo was for someone singing at all hours of the day and night!

Not me, honest!

Thanks, Guys for your reassurance. My problem is my name has a really unusual spelling, so if you look me up, you do get the London Gazette thing loud and clear. But hey ho..

I'm sure nobody will be looking you up. I wouldn't think about looking up any of my friends on the net.

Hi cakemonster. I can understand why these things go in the London Gazette but I have no idea why the LG needs to make their listings open to search engines. Does your entry on the insolvency register also come up? In the unlikely event anyone does search you and brings it up, I'd be tempted to carry it off with a bit of chutzpah and a joke. You are the expert in this and they will very much take their cue on how to react from you.

Couldn't agree more! I'd never heard of the paper until I came on here.

It is definitely one of the more draconian aspecs of an iva and BR. Much like public floggings...just there for added humiliation!!

My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I think the more public element is that it came up on a google search of the OPs's name! I tried it myself but nothing came up...there is someone with my name who has a lot to say on onsolvency so even if I google my name plus insolvency you get pages and pages of this other girl!!
I didn't know you were a girl [:0].

I am not ashamed of my IVA but don't really want the world to know

As far as I am concerned, I don't tell people about it and if you google my name it doesn't bring up anything.

If people find out then I'll deal with it at that time.

I'm sure the majority of people don't spend time searching for their friends on Google!

I have never Googled any people I know - wouldn't even have thought of it.
