Nobody thinks you are blaming him Paul, you're doing your best within a difficult situation.

Speak to your IP and tell him of your problems. It may be that bankruptcy is the best option for you but take advice.

My son is 21 and finished his course last June. Since then he has not been able to find work except for one day a week on a farm which pays him just £50. We spoke to our IP who is great and we were told he could keep this little amount without having to contribute to the household. This will be the way until he is in full time work.

my lad is at uni now and gets his maintance grant for his travel and stuff he needs.
my ip was of the same mind and lets us keep the bit we got for him when he was at college before uni.
we cant help him finacially so hes already in debt for his uni course(which if gets his phd doctorate will pay big dividends when he starts work)but we would not want him out of the house becourse he puts in long hours studying.
we have a clause stating anybody over 18 to pay board where possible but as i said our case worker was ace when these circumstances were explaned.
just get him doing something then the rest will fall into place
cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards

@Kallis3

Iv had a email from the IVA company today saying that they have passed on the documents to there drafting team (Bridgestones) . So i have given them a phone call & spoke to Leigh (Andy Davie's) Admin assistant. She seams to think think that the IVA could still get accepted but i really just dont see how if we loose around £200 per month & we are only proposing a IVA in the region of £180-£200 per month. Never had chance to talk about any other options with her yet but she said that some from Bridgestones will be in touch soon & explain everything to them & see what they say.

I may give Andy a call Monday to see what he say's about it all, an see if Bankruptcy would still be a option.

Plus its not helped today that iv had Payplan calling up to see if im still making payments to them for the DMP, they have put the date back by a few weeks to give us some thinking time for it.

@ Carole

It sounds like you get a very good IP there,

So what happen when your son finished his course did you IP let you lower the payments for your IVA to a more affordable amount as you were not getting any benefits for him?

I'm sure Andy will be along later to advise you Paul.

Hi Paul We didn't get any benefits for Henry anyway as he was over 18 when we started our IVA.
We also have the clause that says any one over 18 must pay board where possible but as he isn't earning he cant.
