Hi,

I have been browsing the forum for the last couple of months now, and last month I finally plucked up the courage to apply for an IVA. I would like to say what a breath of fresh air this forum has been. It has helped to reasure me that all will be ok in the end.

I have a quick question:-

My ceditors meeting is on the 25th of March (1 week today 20p in the £) and I have just found that a company has taken a direct debit from one of my bank accounts that is going to be included in the IVA. I had cancelled the D/D with the bank and the company in question. But they set it up again and took the money. I am really worried that it is going to look bad that I have taken more credit (£34) just before my creditors meeting. I had stopped taking any credit as soon as I realised I was going to apply for an IVA.

I have spoken to my IP and they say it shouldn't affect the outcome. Has anyone on the forum had anything similar happen when setting up their IVA?

Hi and welcome to the forum. So glad you've decided to post and pleased that the forum has helped to reassure you.

Good luck for the creditors meeting on the 25th. I'm sure it won't affect the outcome and do let us know how the meeting goes won't you?

I didn't personally have anything similar that I can remember but I'm sure others will have. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi.
New to this myself but, we have loans with a creditor we bank with. I could not cancel the DDs for these loans so they went out as normal which has taken us over our agreed overdraft limit with them. I phoned my IP to inform them, they told me not to worry as all final outstanding balances would be provided by creditors at the time of meeting. I know it is not exactly the same scenario but I think, this kind of thing is to be expected and your IP will be aware that figures will change for one reason or another.

Seems like a failure of your bank, once you cancel a DD with your bank a credictor can't just set it up again without your knowledge but if the cancel was close to the payment date then it may well have gone through.
Last Payment - November 2011 - Completion Certificate received 2 weeks after last payment, Removed from Insolvency Register within 4 weeks after last payment.

Hi - now you mention it, I moved account but don't think I cancelled the DDs. Big whoops on my part but it didn't adversely affect the outcome so the moral of the story is...don't sweat it as it doesn't matter. As long as you are not using credit all should be well. It's a nail biting time but you are offering a healthy dividend so have every reason to feel confident xx

Good luck, you have taken the hardest step by admitting to your problems and dealing with it. The £34 wont make any difference. And this time next week you will be able to get on with the rest of your life.

Dr Echo - don't worry. HSBC used to take my loan payments every months, pay it back when there was no money in the account and charge me for the privilege! It all got included.

I tried to cancel mine but was not allowed to - I even transferred them across to my new bank and then cancelled them but HSBC couldn't have cared less and just carried on taking the money regardless!

I'm sure you will be fine on the 25th.
