when i started I was covering for someones Maternity leave which meant an upgrade in my Salary this finished in September and I lost around 200 per month in my Basic pay, although i still get overtime which makes my Monthly up to the basic on the upgraded net take home originally provided. Should this be accounted for? Should i not only be paying 50% of 10% over on overtime? hope this makes sense....

In my opinion your 'acting up' allowance should not have been used as basic pay since the position was only temporary. Your normal basic should have been used and the extra treated under the 10% 50/50 rule. This problem would never have arisen in this case and I think you should go back to your IP and ask why you were penalised for a temporary promotion.

Who is the IP and are they represented on this Forum?

I'm with Freeman Jones, I sent them a copy of the Letter i recieved from my employer in September when my Salary was reduced, i did tell them on applying that this salary was only Temporary. I sent them the letter in September showing that my rate of pay had reduced again and also had a conversation at the time where it was recommended that my payment stayed the same because of the overtime i recieved. I am a bit concerned now...
