Dear Natmac1975!
I am going to aply for student membership at ACCA, but unfortunately I have been made bankrupt some times ago... Can you tell me something about the information you supplied to ACCA? Did they want to see some official documents or statements dealing with your financial troubles? I had to present bankruptcy petition because I signed a loan agreement to support my father's business.............. [V]
Thank you very much for your response!

Hi there,
I am not 100% sure on what the rules are regarding membership and bankruptcy except that if I go bankrupt this may prevent me from practising accountancy and I must let ACCA know.
I think it may well depend on how long ago you were bankrupt, but some of the porfessionals on here may be better served to answer.
I would suggest you give ACCA helpline a call 020 7059 5000 and explain your specific circumstances, they should be able to guide you in the right direction.
In my case, I wrote to ACCA explaining that i was in IVA and the circumstances whihc led to my inability to meet my financial commitments. I said that they were free to review my financial circumastances or speak to my IP should they need to, but they did not feel that this was necessary.
Good luck with it all
