I have had my draft proposal drawn up, signed and returned it. Waiting to hear date of meeting with creditors. I am receiving letters and phone calls from my creditors should I write to them and let them know the situation?

You could do however done be too shocked if the letters and calls continue. Even after an IVA is accepted its not uncommon for creditors call centre staff to still make contact. It just takes time for the information to filter through to the right department.

Hi Julie,

It won't make any difference whether you write or not, the call centres will still call you. The creditors will be aware of the proposal.

You can either ignore the calls and letters, refuse to answer the security questions or change your number.

I wrote & I telephoned all my creditors to let them know - it's personal choice and doesn't really make any difference but I was able to get a hold put on calls up to 10 days at a time which calmed things down a bit. I was worried they would try me at work - which they didn't thank God.

It won't be long now so hang on in there!.

It does no harm to keep your creditors informed, but whether you want to run to the bother of more letters to them when they will get a copy of your proposal very shortly is unlikely to have any effect on the eventual outcome.

Very best of luck on the day and let us know how you get on.

It is all personal preference and there is no consistency whether you call them or not. I chose to write and tell them I wouldn't answer the phone but it made no difference. Fortunately they didn't have my works number!

I sent the standard letter just for peace of mind. As above it doesn't stop them from calling but at least I knew we had been reasonable and fair in letting them know our situation. We don't use our home phone anyway so we have unplugged it and have call filter applications on our mobile phones and it blocks creditor calls on the blocked list so luckily it's just been a few demands in the post and not much hassle. Barclaycard have called my hubbie at work numerous times but fortunately the switchboard lady has just told them he's not on that shift and they have given up in the end.

It's not a nice part of the process but there isn't much you can do to stop it. They stopped calling about a week ago and our creditors meeting is today so hopefully it won't be long for you. :)

Thank you all for your replies. I have since heard that my creditors meeting is to be held on 6th May at 11.00am. Will be very nervous and everything crossed for an acceptance.

I would like to thank you all for being so helpful. It is so nice to know that you are there if I need someone to talk to as no one knows my situation. You are all a great help. Thank you!!

I will let you know how it all goes. x

Good luck for the 6th ! Personally once my proposal had been written, I had no further communication with any creditors. I let the IP do this and concentrated on ensuring we stayed within budget !
