hey guys hope youre well.

ok next week (still in same job) i have this interview with a police sergeant in my company (dont work for the police-work for transport) but although im still doing the same job theres going to be a little bit of enforcement work with the police and we have to go through all the forms with this sergeant. everyone in this section has to do it but we;
've already been told its a ctc check and it does say on the form if its a ctc check then knowledge of financial info isnt necessary. when we had the initial meeting a few people said they had ivas and i didnt say anything and he basically said we would fail the check and have to appeal. i dont understand though if its the ctc check why do i have to discolse financial info if it states on the form they dont need it. im happy to do it but seems pointless if theyre gonna fail me. what should i do pleeeese help thanx guys xx

Is it a counter terrorism check FD? If so then there is a bit on the form about finances, I've just looked it up.

If it's just a crb check then it's purely criminal records they check.

Is this the form you will have to fill in?

its the ctc check but the finacial bit says if its a ctc check dont fill the finance part in but i want to be straight and upfront but it seems silly if its a straight fail.

ill have to tell him next week im in an iva but hopefully since its my 3rd year i hope it counts

I only looked at the beginning part which does mention that a credit check will be made and you might have to have a further interview.

Why not make an anonymous phone call just to check.

hiya thanx for looking for me.

well everyone has to have a one to one with this sargeant this week-clean credit or not.

i will have to tell him about the iva but the bit thats annoying me is it says on the form if its only thr ctc you dont need to fill the finance bit in.

ill be open and honest but its annoying as he told all of us in an initial meeting that adverse credit is a straight fail and then they look at an appeal process so its kinda waste of time. hmm not sure whats the best thing to do

hi flumpy dog - you're right, CTC check doesn't go into finances but the sergeant/police force may do a credit check separately - for CTC you tend to fill sections of the same form that you do for SC clearance that's all.
You obviously need to be open and honest but I wouldn't go out of your way to tell the guy the in's and out's of your finances unless he asks directly.

As the sergeant has already explained the process for people with adverse credit, I would be totally honest. To gain a job by giving false information is a sackable offence and I wouldn't risk it. Not to give the iva info at this stage is providing false info as you know that admitting takes you down a different application process. For what it's worth, I reckon that if they want to offer yu the job they'll disregard the iva at appeal - they just need to rubber stamp the process. xx

The fact he has explained what the process is for people with adverse credit I would say they are used to it and the appeal process will see you through ok... Be up front and honest ... As you and others have said it really is pointless in not informing them ... Honesty is the best policy !
