Quick update folks; wheels are turning but I now understand why it takes as long as it does...!

The main reason I'm posting is to say that Mum's had a great result with the PPI claim on her loan; Santander have agree to refund the £4,600 she's paid over the years, along with £1,200 interest! They'll be giving her nearly £5,800 back! [:D]

We've just gone through and worked out which debt she needs to put the money toward first (I've said credit cards as she's paying the highest interest on those). She's also managing a lot of debt but I'm really pleased for her that Santander have acknowledged that she was mis-sold her PPI.

Nice to have a little 'win' now and again, it's made her day and I'm so pleased for her. [:)]

Glad your mum has won! Hopefully you can help her sort out the rest of her finances now once she has paid one or two cards off.

Will she be able to manage everything else afterwards?

Get her to cut up the cards she pays off as well!

Well I thought I'd come back and add a quick update. It's been a fairly lengthy process, and I can now understand why - the information required has been voluminous!

The service charge caused a particular hiccup, but is now resolved - although not in the way I'd have liked. I was hoping to be able to repay it over a number of months, whilst making the current payments. Unfortunately the management company of the property decided they wanted it all, and now. As my mortgage lender has a large financial interest in the property, they couldn't risk the leasehold being forfeited and have paid the arrears. The amount has been added to my mortgage, which also means that I'll have to pay more into the IVA, and my mortgage borrowing just increased by a few grand. Not ideal, but it's the only way of sorting things.

So, as it stands today we're now at proposal stage. Mel's team have been great; prompt, efficient and have taken the time to explain things clearly to me. I have a couple more things to do, and then it all really starts to move forward.

Thanks to everyone who's given me advice on here, it's been great and I'm certain I've chosen the right company to work with me through this somewhat difficult period.

I'll update again soon.

Glad the service charge has been resolved, even though not the way you had hoped for.

I'm glad you've chosen Mel and her team, Mel is my IP and I've never regretted my IVA or my choice of IP for one minute, they're always there, contactable and understanding. All the best. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I look forward to getting the complete file so that I can write your IVA proposal at the earliest opportunity, gbenno!
