I'm post IVA with 10 months until it drops off my credit report.
First question; How long do "linked addresses" stay on the report? I tried to get a mortgage 2 years ago and the lender linked my old and new address.
Second question; will lenders see this linked address? Although the original credit search has dropped from my report, the linked address hasn't. It specifically states a mortgage application. Will this put me at a disadvantage? Maybe a new lender would see that I didn't get a mortgage 2 years ago and factor this into their underwriting?
Third question; I have a Vanquis card, mobile contract, next account and bank accout (all green and good). Would a lender look at the Vanquis (low status card?) and factor this into a credit score?
The fact you have a Vanquis card is great and would show you can manage you debt and would have no impact on lowering your credit score.
Im not sure, but I think linked address stay on your credit file all the time. I have all my previous address s showing on my equifax file.
No one know that you had been turned down for mortgage. It simply shows you have applied. The outcome of your application is not posted on your credit file, hope that helps a little. Im sure someone else will clarify these points later, best of luck Rich

s27 - I belive linked address remain part of the personal information (i still have one thats 10year old on mine)
Were you refused the mortgage? - if the question asks "have you every been refused a mortgage - you need to answer truthfully.
Creditors are looking for postive /well run accounts and by the sounds of it you on the right road. BUT (and its a big but) this doesnt happens overnight,it will take a couple of years to rebuild a postive credit history.
I would imagine the fact that the IVA is still showing on the credit record would be a big factor in the mortgage application being refused.
I know that the last time I checked my credit report it was addresses in the last six years I had to put down.

Thanks for the replies.
Mortgage was refused, even though the broker suggested it would be OK, it was around the time when lenders tightened their belts, early 2009. There is no mortgage on my account, so applied for but not accepted, would seem obvious conclusion.
Yes IVA showing, but had a chunky deposit (40%) and 3x salary which is why the broker was keen.
My real concern is that when the IVA and defaults drop off next April will my score be "excellent", and will lenders question the linked address mortgage application?
