I commend you on your most recent reply James.

As for the register I know there is not much we can do about this but what about the fact that anyone can get all my IP's security questions by simply viewing the register online surely the IP's should at least have a password in place for added security or maybe their case officers are not aware how easy it is to get the answers to their security questions.

And also yes they may not be able to gain credit whilst you are in an IVA/DMP/Bancruptcy etc but they can still apply for credit at random companies who will run a credit check which will some back reject but if you have lots of these showing on your credit file this can be just as damaging as a default notice?

I could have chosen to go down the BR route, as I am in rented accomodation, the skip I now drive isn't worth a few hundred and my job these days (is going down the pan anyway) wouldn't be unduly affected. But .... I chose IVA in order to pay back as much as possible (some would call me stupid --- sometimes I feel that way myself), but I have always taken my responsibilities seriously. I borrowed the money and I feel obligated to pay back as much as possible.

Same here Foggy.

As regards the credit records, as soon as my IVA is completed then I will be checking my file with all three agencies and I will sign up to CIFAS and make sure I check things regularly to make sure nothing shows up on there. I've been subject to card cloning in the past and, coupled with my occupation, I'm a naturally suspicious person and would certainly be checking things out.

So did I and that's why I took an IVA as well but doing the right thing by the banks means nothing to your future credit prospect anymore - I would not think twice about bankcruptcy now

I could have not gone bankrupt due to the equity in the house but I would have gone down the IVA route anyway.

I know BR is the only option for some people and I would never knock anyone for going down that route if it was necessary.

I admit that, with some of my creditors, I feel they don't deserve my consideration. However, a couple ( one in particular ) I feel I would wish to pay back every penny if I could.

These days however, BR has tightened up a lot and is not the 'easy' option that some people used to think it was.

Just in case anyone thought I was - I'm not having a knock at anyone on here who has been bankrupt.
