Hi all,

I am just entering a IVA with Melanie and I have been reading about some of the harrasment cases on the forum, wish I hadn't of but the worry is in the back of my mind now. Some of the creditors are Barclays and MBNA who seem to be particularly nasty.

Anybody got any experiences of them on here

Thanks in advance

Regardless of who you go with, you will be harrassed by your creditors. You can either choose to answer and explain what you are doing, ignore the calls, refuse to answer the security questions or change your phone number.

If you have any internet accounts then now is the time to go into those sites and remove phone numbers.

You are in safe hands with Mel.

Hi, two of our creditors were Barclays and MBNA and we have not heard a thing from either since entering the IVA.
Good Luck

agreen0 - Totally agree with Kallis -

This "in between bit" of the IVA is the worse bit - and it seems the more you explain the IVA route to some creditors - the worse and more agressive the calls become.

The less stress option - is to refuse to answer any seurity question (if a call slips though) and dont be intimidated into making any payments. Or just gently hang the phone up and unplug it a while.

Quite agree with Jan, we have all been through the bullying but at the end of the day, they are just trying to get money you don't have, and by not paying them will have no bearing on the result of your creditors meeting. Be strong if it happens to you, the end is in sight..

Ignore the bullies - they are just trying to boost their pay. They have no say over your IVA regardless of what they try and tell you.

Ignore them.

We are here for support if they do get to you!

They can't do anything to you so answer the calls and stand proud that you are taking action. If anyone takes it too far let Mel know.

Hi agreen0,
Barclaycard were one of my creditors and they were without doubt my most agressive persuers. They, then Mercers called several times every day right upto and after my creditors meeting. I work nights so always have my phone on silent, so I never answered their calls, they always left messages - mainly automated.
I had another eight creditors, most of them only tried contacting me a couple of times apart from Halifax loans who were quite prolific in their chasing of me, and I only had three payments left of a five year loan with them.
Only you can decide how to deal with the calls you will get but I would just not answer them.
Your IVA will be up and running before any of your creditors are able to take any retrieval action against you and whether you speak to them or not will have no bearing at all on how they vote at your creditors meeting.
I made no payments to any of my creditors once I started my IVA process, and after one intial call to each creditor to inform them of my intentions, I never answered a call from any of them right up to the day of my creditors meeting.

You are with a great company, I`m with Melanie`s team and they have been great from the start and are available all the time to answer any queries you have.

Thats good to hear Goosed, I did some research before settling on Melanie and I am very happy with the decision I made. I am in the process of getting all the paperwork over to her but my wife suffered a heart attack recently and that has kind of slowed the process down a bit.

I stopped answering my landline (I rarely give out my mobile number) from the time I started my IVA and any that did slip through the net I just explained I was in the process and referred them on to DFD if they still weren't satisfied. The calls do stop eventually once the IVA is up and running so bear with it for now, it is worth it!! :))
