Just been reading about the couple who scooped that large win last week and i have to say whilst we all dream of winning to enable us to pay off our debts etc, would we really like to have to move home etc, having said that though i would keep it quiet and not go public, not got very good advice given to that couple me thinks but i wish them all the luck and hope that some normality returns to their lives in order for them to live it stress free. Blimey you can't win can you, stress when in debt and more stress when you have huge amounts of money!
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

The brain is a funny thing, its all about control,i know what type of stress i would like, and its not debt.I think more smaller prizes is the way forward not stupid 100s of millions.

If I won a lot of money on the lottery then I would move house - it would be somewhere on the coast in this country and somewhere abroad, probably America.

I would keep it very quiet - RNLI, Air ambulance, Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation would all get a very large bung. Kids and grandkids would have their debts paid off and money put into a trust fund.

Never going to happen though as we won't be doing it anymore - the odds are just too high as they've moved the goalposts.

i love to dream about what i would do with a lottery win. and i dont understand those people who state it won't change them - if you dont want your life to change then don't waste your money doing the lottery!!
the chances of me having a lottery win is less than most as i only do it once in a blue moon. but my mum dad, brother and ex boyfriend surprisingly, have all said they would see me ok if they won. so i keep my fingers crossed for them.

I do the normal lottery but not the Euro anymore - just read my previous post and realised I hadn't made it clear.

I would really like to win just enough to pay off all of my debts.

I'd like to win enough to be comfortable. I'd like to be able to own a little business, couple of staff so I'm not stressed but bothered enough to be involved. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I do the lottery now and then but not regularly. If I won I'd give money to smaller local charities, make my mum comfortable and move to a house rather than a maisonette.

Certainly would send some funding towards the air ambulance, as with my hobby u never know when you may need them. Have been up a mountain on my bike many times and watched the Air Ambulance rescue other bikers, its one of the few charities i will give to.

I'd give money to the local hospices, the RNLI and a few local animal charities. Depending on the amount that I won I might give to some of the national charities but I do wonder sometimes if the money goes where it's supposed to.

I think it is all down to how much you win. I'd sort mine and families debts out first and then look to see what I could do.

I do pay to the RNLI monthly anyway (saved from allowances). I am landlocked but really admire what they do.

i think that allowing someone to win such an obscene amount of money is ludicrous. Normal souls like me and the rest of us in here wouldn't have a hope in hell of getting our heads around it. I would prefer it if these jackpots were capped at about £10m which is more than enough for one person, and then spread the rest around the lower prize winners, say make 50 or 60 millionaires, and filter it down to a few thousands, then a few hundreds, so more people get a share.

Being really selfish -- all I want is £60k to pay the debts and fees off ... that'd do me (anything less would disappear into the IVA anyway !!!! )
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I often think about this, and I would move like a shot! I've never been able to afford a 'nice' house in the area I live in so that would be a given. I agree, how can a lottery win not change your life, sadly I think it's a little naive, money always changes lives, look at all us, we're in this position cos of money.

I never thought I'd just want to win the money to pay my debts of but I too feel like that now, however I wouldn't turn down a few million ;o)

I'm actually pretty lucky with the lottery and it pretty much pays for itself I've even won a few hundred pounds before, but never a big win clearly!!!

Yes, why is it always the people who say 'it won't change me, I won't give up my job, house car etc etc' who win? well if i won I would be the first to admit yes of course it's going to change me, we would buy a new house in the mountains somewhere, probably a chalet in Chamonix too and a nice little pad in cornwall, the lakes and the yorkshire dales!, a few cars and of course loads of handbags and shoes lol!

I think if you won that sort of money though no matter how hard you tried it would be impossible to keep it quiet, our kids would blab straight away to their school friends.

I don't think to be honest I would give money to charity though, as most of the time more of it goes to pay staff wages and admin than actually do any good whatsoever, instead I would rather give my time (which I would have plenty of) and help that way, I would probably kit out the mountain rescue teams directly and support local community projects in the area I lived rather than just dishing out money to national charities

That's why I wouldn't give to the national charities lem - I'm sure more of the money goes on wages and advertising than it does on helping people.

I'd move to Lyme Regis like a shot as it's my favourite part of the country. I'd only have one car though as I don't see the point of having more than one - I could only drive one at a time! I'd buy OH his Mustang though!
