Ash4 - would you be prepared to name the company on here - as this can help other people in the IVA situation. By google searching the name of the company ofter it will throw up previous consumer concerns etc.

It may just help someone - to make an informed choice about that company

Hi Ash - Looked at their website (if its he right one - they seem to be offering all the services ie. IVA /Bankruptcy/DMP

If this is the case you made the right decision - how unprofessional of any company to use the Register to gleam details of people in an IVA - and then to question their decision - for the sake of getting business.

Unfortunately its companies like this that give the debt management companies an unprofessional reputation.

So glad the forum helped you decide Ash, we've all had these letters and we all deal with them in our own way, if you feel you're in the right debt solution then that's all that matters. I'm happy with my IVA and the way things are working for me so if they write to me they'll know in no uncertain terms!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

If by naming the mentioned company, and it has helped all on this forum by doing so one way or another, then that is great, as it is all I can do, although not much for all the helpful posts that I have received, it is good to know though that compassionate people still exist out there, I have faith in the human race again. thanks for your reply[:D].

It's not 'watered down'. We are doing our best to pay off our debts.

I'm not knocking anyone who has to go BR.

This is it, Jan. Again not knocking anyone who has chosen BR ( we all have different circumstances and have to chose what is best for us), but I am guessing IVA'ers pay back more than in BR, and over a longer period of time. so how it could be described as "watered down" is beyond me.

I think whoever came up with that description in the first instance was comparing the average IVA to a "criminal" bankruptcy, where everything is seized by the OR ..... very few and far between I would hazard.

I will never knock anyone who has to go bankrupt, there are those who have no option, particularly if they cannot cope with their IVA's,

I think the only people who will be included in criminal BR are those who are criminals - and their assets will be seized by the police and auctioned off.

Proper order!!

I was thinking more of those going for BR as a device for not repaying debts, even though they have assets hidden away. Again, not talking about a few grand hidden under the mattress, but the private jet and the offshore accounts ..... when they get found out the OR takes them to the cleaners, and has a surprisingly sharp set of teeth to use in doing so.

For use "mere mortals" all debt solutions have their place and everyone should go for the one best suited at the time.

I wonder if the courts look dimly on those who fail their iva to go bankrupt, especially if their iva payments were sustainable???

if we hadn't wanted to hold onto our home really(Mel said this to us that BR would have been the wisest decision)BR would have been the right path for us.

with a secured loan(a big one)if interest rates start to climb we could still end up having to go BR while still owing money to my parents from the F&F figure they put forward to help us. it scares me,but we just have to get on with it now,for us it's being treated like a normal IVA,it doesn't feel easy! so many things seem to be breaking! my tooth- it needs to come out,my mp3 just died- i use it for relaxation with pain-been looking on ebay for a new 2nd hand one,the locks have gone on 2 windows - both a fire hazard as upstairs. getting your mortgage finished must be bliss!!!!!!

i wonder how many people go into a IVA when really BR would be wiser? i don't think either are easy,we all just have to try to make the best choice at the time.

BR was never an option for us as we would have lost our home (too much equity) and I want to pay back as much as I can to my creditors.

For some people BR is the best choice.
