That's excellent Tom, thank u it will be a huge help to those on the forum.
I'm really happy with the garage I go to, been going for a couple of years now so trust what they say. They did not charge me for looking it over n checking everything I asked, which I know our old garage (ford) would of done.
Susie - I had the same thing happen to me about 3 months down the line of my IVA, a whopping 700 bill! I was fortunate my dad helped me out, otherwise I would not of been able to pay, blooming cars!
Jan, don't worry I'm stress free now n hubby is home for 2 weeks to help with boys n take orders from me! Need to sit n cook this baby! X
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

No problem at all, I love cars (they are a good part of the reason I'm in so much debt) and am always working on them for friends, family, neighbours, colleagues etc!

Susie, the front suspension spring went on my car earlier this year. I drove it home and parked as normal and when I went out the next day (luckily a Sunday so I didn't have to go to work!) the front passenger side was dipping down. Luckily it didn't go through the tyre, and the RAC man who came out to me came back and fixed it the next day. I had an advisory on the rear suspension spring when it was MOT'd a couple of weeks ago but fingers crossed it'll last.
Broken springs are very commonplace now unfortunately. Please do not drive a car with a broken spring, not only is there a very serious risk of the tyre being punctured should the spring make its way loose, but the handling of the car will be changed drastically, especially in a high load situation such as an emergency stop.
I'd either get the garage to recover the vehicle, or call your breakdown service - they may even fix it for you with a nominal bill for parts.

I'm with the AA but didn't even think that they might be able to fix it!! It's not gone through the tyre this time and not as low as the front one was! I blame all the speed bumps on my road, there are loads of them!
They towed it last time to the garage which is around half a mile away.
It will need to sit there till after bank holiday weekend as no money till payday!!
Will get me walking again so its a daily walk to work!!

IVA Accepted 31st March 2011.
IVA Ends 31st March 2016.
When mine went I called the RAC as we didn't know what had happened. The RAC man knew what it was straight away, and it's a good job I didn't drive the car as when he twisted the spring it sheared straight off.
I would definitely get the car towed to the garage.
yeh, we knew what it was right away this morning, same clunking noise as previous one although we were burning rubber all the way up the street with that one!
AA guy said he had never seen it break so low and make such a mess of the tyre!
My other half is determined to drive it to the garage!...Men!,,,they never listen!..lol...sorry to all you guys out there!
I'll work on changing his mind!

Susie -- point out to your OH (please) that it won't only be his neck he is risking. Imagine losing control when approaching a group of kids playing at the roadside. Could he live with that carnage ??? I know it sounds alarmist -- But, I hate to say, these things DO happen ( I have seen them). Life is full of risks, but there is no reward in taking ones that can be avoided.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Knowing that the car is dangerous and driving it could end up with criminal charges. Really is a no brainer, and the idea that you could potentially kill someone cant be put into the "it probably wont happen" mindset!!!
Cars really can be a total pain in the A!!!!

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
Oh Lyns, I feel so sorry for you. I know how stressful car ownership is and I'm not pregnant!
I too have a ford focus, three years old, broken down three times in the last month, I do have a year warranty but guess what, the dealer argues that nothing is covered under it. I bought it after I finished my IVA with money my dad gave me for completing the IVA. I feel really bad because I hate the car.
I guess we are both having bad luck with the focus. I think though if I was pregnant and hormonal it would have been driven back through the front window of the dealer. I did contemplate doing that for a moment!
Still we struggle on! Good luck getting everything sorted and remember you wont have to stick with this car forever. Your babies health and well being are all that matters in life now.
all the best

Thank u, im fine now not happy I had to spend money on it already, but it was better than what i thought & it got the wheels sorted too. I really like fords n still happy with my focus again, for now!!!
I think it's luck of the draw, I've known people walk out the showroom with a car n have loads of problems, only thing is they can take em back n get it sorted for free.
Sorry u hate your car, but I can understand why. I hated & resented the fiesta I traded in for this, I was so glad to see the back of it. But don't feel bad, it's not your fault it's gone wrong & the dealer should
not be moving the goal posts!
Have u looked at the trading standards consumers website? I found
it really helpful in how to complain after buying a
car & it sounds like u have very good reason to do so! If I was not
pregnant & high risk I would of probably complained to the car dealer I purchased it from! Your comments made me laugh & yes it
very well did nearly end up going back to the dealer!
I think u should complain if your up to it, especially as it's only 3 yrs old, mines 9 yrs so I can only imagine what u spent on it. Take alook at the consumer website, it gives u sound advise & template letters etc.
Good luck matty & thank u.

Been onto ford and did get a load of free stuff from them. I would have complained harder but I ended up thinking Theres more to life than my car so I gave up with some issues.
Why are some dealers auch sharks? Even main dealere sometimes!
My radio doesn't work either and to make it worse there is some awful westlife or similar CD stuck on play if I turn the stereo on. Im ot sure which would be worse, your air conditioning blower only working on 4 or me having to listen to the same track the 1000th time over down the M6 in a traffic jam.
One day a car will be invented where nothing goes wrong! Until then I can amuse ford hq with photos of my car on various recovery trucks around the country whilst being overtaken by a 20 year old ford sierra.
