Well, it's my Creditors' meeting on Tuesday (11am), and I don't mind saying that I'm very anxious about the whole thing; the possibility of my IVA being rejected scares the heck out of me!
I've booked the day off work, so I'm available for negotiations... Please can someone advise me how long the process takes? I'm in the hands of LloydsTSB as they are my main creditor. I hope their representative wakes up in a sympathetic mood!!!
Here's hoping I get some sleep on Tuesday night (debt sure is good for weight loss, too)!!!
Hi. I am sure it will be fine. Rejections are very few and far between these days, and the ones I have seen have generally been re-negotiated and approved a few days later.
It seems the conduct of meetings (time -wise) does vary. Many get told within half an hour of the appointed time. I had two small variations (fees -- which is common and is of no consequence to you, and they did up my payments by £28, which I was expecting .... actually I was expecting to lose £56, but they split the difference, so we all benefitted). Anyway, I digress .... I had those two small variations and was called about 30 minutes after the start, agreed the variations, confirmed there and then by email, and that was it. All done and dusted.
Best of luck for your meeting ... I will look out for a happy post !
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
All the best from me and I am sure things will be fine, easy for me to say I know but just remember your IP would not be putting forward your proposal if they didn't think it had a very good chance of being accepted.
I would think you would hear by early afternoon, if not I would be phoning up as I am impatient!!! I heard within half an hour of my meeting
Very nervewracking but I am sure come Tuesday evening you will be heaving a huge sigh of relief with a bottle of wine xx
All the very best from me too. Mine was accepted in mid Sept. My meeting was at 10.30, and I knew about an hour later. Don't be afraid to phone your IP company if you don't hear anything within an hour.
I'm sure it will be accepted, like the others have said, they wouldn't put forward a proposal that is likely to fail. You'll feel so much better when it's all gone through, and you've made your first payment.

Today (15/09/11) I start my journey to a debt free future ~ happy days!
Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and advice! My IVA company (Melanie Giles) and its employees has been fantastic to date!!! I'd recommend them to anyone experiencing difficulties. They have treated me with total respect and have also been ultra efficient.
Good luck from me as well - you are with an excellent team.
Looking forward to a positive post on Tuesday!

We were asked to ring our company 20 minutes after the time of the meeting... just a slight variation to minimum dividend (upped from 71p to 73p in the pound) we agreed to this there and then. All done within 30 minutes from time of meeting.
we did a F&F IVA in Feb this year,Mel was our IP too. we got our call 5 min into the meeting, but were told we'd have to wait until the full time had passed just incase anyone changed their minds- a hairy wait! but all went ok.
Lloyds were our biggest creditor, voted YES.
Mel did say afterwards that she'd had enough votes in before hand to feel i'dt accepted before the date but wasn't able to tell us incase anyone changed their minds. i hope that gives you HOPE, kall constantly re assured me/us that Mel doesn't do the "f" word - fail.
you're in very good hands, our situation was really dire, if it hadn't gone through BR was our only other genuine option.
will be thinking of you,hug x
Nothing stays the same...everything changes..hang on in there!
Know it's easy to say but try not to worry. You are in such safe hands, Mel and her team are out of this world! If it's possible Mel will achieve it, and if she didnt think you would be successful, she wouldnt make the offer. I will never forget Mel, ever, and would have no hesitation recommending her and her wonderful team to anyone! You will be fine.
