Please help...

Hi there, I'm 5 months into my IVA and its going quite well except for one thing.

I've just had my car insurance renewal. It went from £27.something per month to £65.something per month. Naturally I cancelled it, although I did ask if that was their best!

It's now Ive got the problem. I just tried to buy insurance with Hastings and they refused me after a credit check. I knew when I did an IVA that i'd have problems, it was to be expected but how am I to get insurance without paying for it in one go?

I've just emailed my IP and will call her tomorrow but is there anybody out there who has experienced something similar? And how did they cope?

Any suggestions.....having this IVA is great because a great weight was lifted once it was accepted but now this.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

Had the same problem in May this year. I got a really good quote from Tescos online, I rang them up and explained I wouldnt get through a credit check and they were fab. They don't credit check when offering monthly payments, and I signed up immediately.

Hope this helps x
all done now :-)

Hi sopie0119

Thanks for that....unfortunately Tesco's are one of my creditors, so don't think i could go there. I tried to do it via monthly payments with Hastings but got big fat NO.

Thanks anyway.....something will turn up

Tesco insurance is different - they were a creditor of ours and we still took out insurance with them - don't be put off !

Hi
Try Tesco insurance because the fact that they are in your IVA will not matter
Some insurance companies credit check and some don't, just trial and error really
Good luck

I know pet insurance is different to car insurance but I've changed my dogs insurance a couple of times during the IVA and have had no problems at all immediately signing up to monthly payments.

You could try AVIVA, I've been with them right through my IVA and have always paid monthly without any problems..
