I have now come to the end of my IVA (Sept 11)after a long 5 and half years but I have now hit a wall of silence!

I am with DFD and they did not contact me prior to my IVA ending to let me know it was my last payment, have not given me any information about the closure process and I have just been left adrift!!

I got one email from them after repeatedly emailing them and it seems that there are so many reviews to go through, that I may be waiting for months to get my certificate!! (their estimate was at east 3-6 months)

I have not had any further communication from them since 28th September :(

There is apparently a pre closure review, then a review by a "senior" to review all the claims creditors have submitted and then finally my file will be passed to the closures department to complete the closure process and issue my certificate.

I have also heard that there may be a final creditors meeting held - is this true?

I had a creditors meeting in February 2010 as I had a payment break due to moving house, and so all my claims were finalised then, so I thought a huge chunk of the work had been done and so the closure process would be a bit quicker!

Is the closure and ending of an IVA always this drawn out and painful?

I am so confused and stressed out at the lack of information. I can't get through on the phone either.....their waiting times are over 10 minutes and I give up!

Please can anyone help??

I have been told my file has be reviewed by Senior Advisor, then passed to the

Declan from DFD posts on here. Hopefully he will pick this up and look into it for you. I'm also with DFD and he's helping me with my completion too. Try not to worry too much, I know it's easier said than done but Declan will help

Hi
We are getting a few posts on the same subject and it must be very frustrating for people that have battled through the five/six years and are looking forward to becoming debt free.
I hope companies treat the closure of IVAs with the same importance/speed that they placed when initially setting up the arrangement.

My last payment to DFD was August, despite emailing Declan and their customer support I've had no responses about how long mine will take - I paid 100% plus all the fees so you'd think mine would be straight forward...
DFD have always seemed to be a bit slower than other companies at completion, I've seen loads of posts on the forums about it, and while it is frustrating (so much so lol!) at least we're now pretty much done and can start looking forwards.
Hopefully you'll get some response soon (maybe I will too) :)

You're right Andy it is frustrating and a little unfair considering it probably wouldn't have taken them that long to put a monthly payment up if you had a pay increase whilst in the IVA. The IVA completion date is set at the beginning so it's no surprise and you'd think they'd prepare for it in the last 6 months of any IVA to ensure it completes as promptly as possible.

Andy Davie

This is why I said there should be a seperate section for finshers not becuase we're special, becuase it's a subject on its own. As below

They way I see it there what has been a 10 fold increse in IVA's in the last 5 years so whilst the IP's have geared themsleves to take it on, it is becomming apparent the same cannot be said on finishing them.

To my mind as much as we need to fullfil our contractual obligations to the proposal so must the IP. If we decided to take a six month break becuase we're busy then they would fail the IVA. and an equal and opposite set of conditions need to be set to the IP.(we'll deal with those later)In a nut shell It's call a duty of care and it's failing here isn't?

And yes I know some caeses are complex but this is comming up a little to often.

I have to say, sponge, I agree with you there. It isn't as though the end of the iVA comes as a surprise! Maybe, as well as a "completions department", they should set up a "pre-completions department".

Trouble is, we would then need a "pre-pre-completions department" !!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I can fully understand that the completion process isn't instant, they have to check that everything has been done that needed to be done and they can't do that until the last payment has been received so of course there are some things that can't be done until the end... my problem is with the total lack of any kind of communication at all!! Things do take time sometimes, but it would be nice to just be acknowledged... just once!

Kazzy very nicely put. I wonder if there are many in that postion trying to finish. I remember seeing this site and wanting a rant, but to worried my IP firm might see it and make things difficult.

hi Em
We were with DFD and found them to be great. If you have made your last payment just ring them to confirm that they have received the last payment and get their approval for you to cancel your standing order. Make a note of the name of who you spoke with in full also. Then email Declan on the forum to see if he can help chase up your certificate. Best wishes and well done on reaching the end.
Hugs

I'm sure Declan will pick up on these posts sooner rather than later and will be able to assist.

Years 2,3,4 pass in a blur (honest they do) you don't think about it that much and even year 5 not so bad...Except the last three months that's like eating poo for 12 weeks! So after you last payment after about a further 8 weeks it's inside your head all the flippin time, I was just so fookin miserable.. Anyway when you get there, sure they'll have changed the proccess so it's sort of a next day thing

I'm not finding mine is passing by in a blur. It is really dragging at the moment, especially as things are about to change for us.

I'll be happy to reach the last few months.

Hi
I'm just waiting for someone that has finished paying their IVA, and is still awaiting completion some 3-4 months later, to unexpectedly receive a windfall..............I bet that would have to go into the IVA.
