Hi all. Haven't been on here for a while but just wanted any opinions.
-Made my last IVA payment in May 2011 - Hooray!!! - Good

-Started a course that I have been wanting to do for the entire duration of my IVA but couldn't afford to - Good.

-Lost my job just after I started my course (no redundancy payment)- Bad

-Received email from DFD that had adhered to Best Endeavours so case now being passed to closures team which can take up to 3 months - Good

-Finally received a new job offer with financial institution that require background checks. One of them being a credit check. Have informed them about the IVA which they were very unhappy about but have said they are willing to accet a copy of the completion certificate as evidence. I need the certificate ASAP or they will withdraw the job offer. -Good/Bad

-Have spoken to DFD who have said they are chasing up creditors but creditors have up to 12 weeks to submit claims. - Bad

-Job offer will not remain open for that amount of time. - Bad

Been unemployed for 5 months, family/friends are unwilling to lend/give me any more money and the job market is really and trully bad :-(

-Probably should have chased this up as soon as I had made the last payment in May.

Any suggestions????

DFD do seem to be pretty slow at the moment. Declan is a DFD advisor, he posts on here hopefully he'll pick this up and shed some light on what's happening. In the meantime all you can do is keep on at DFD x

Jayla thats great that you have completed your IVA but truly appalling that without your "Closure Cert" you may lose the opportunity of a new job.

I would certainly say it is NOT your fault that you havn't chased this up before......why would you need to? The least you should expect is that the Company dealing with your IVA should bring it to a "closure" in a timely manner to allow you to get on with your life.

There is another recent thread on this same matter which also unfortunately refers to DFD.

TRULY APPALLING! Good luck and hope you dont lose the chance of that job!

Jayla, I hope you don't mind but I've amended the title of this thread and hopefully Declan will pick it up and help.

Good luck x

Jayla just a thought but have you checked your credit file...eg Experian. May be worth a check.

Good move Skippy....think there maybe another thread close by that could do with the same "bumping" up.

Thanks for all the well wishing!
I emailed Declan a couple of days ago and just waiting a response.
@ Pennyless
I'm signed up to Credit Expert so have access to my credit report which I view all the time.

I was so pleased to not have to make anymore payments, I just thought that getting the cert was secondary but nooooooooooo.

It's weird that I thought having a job whilst in the IVA was bad but not having a job with no IVA is a lot worse...if that makes any sense to anyone!!!

I suppose all I can do is hope for the best whilst constantly chasing up DFD.

Good luck on completing and I hope Declan picks up on this soon and that you do get the job.

Hi Jayla. I think it is awful that you should need the cert to prove u hv completed the iva to any1 really, and for to lose out on a job just because you hv done something to tackle your debt and make your life better. saying that i kno there are some jobs you cant do when in an iva, maybe this is one of those jobs???
anyway i hope you get this sorted. Can the firm dealing with your iva not do something to help, like a phonecall or letter/e-mail? Good luck.
Dawn

Hi Jayla,

When was the IVA completed. It might show up on the insolvency register that it has completed depending on where DFD are up to with it. Have a look at http://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/ ... eInput.asp and type your name in. Hope that helps.

Cheers,

It won't show up as completed - it will just disappear from the register and I believe the Insolvency Service are a bit behind with updating this.

Hi, it should show up for three months once it's completed...

Individual Voluntary Arrangements will remain visible while they are Current, and for a period of 3 months after the receipt of notice of the revocation order, full implementation or termination of the agreement.

Drew
It will stay there untill the IP sends the CC to the registar, regretably. It's starting to reinforce my posts that when IVA's went epic the IP's geared up to take them on but had not really catered for the end game of today! Please tell me I'm wrong?

It may be cleared off quicker if the IS are up to scratch - I do know of some that have been off quicker than that.

Some have been on there longer.

I don't think it will show as completed though although I do stand to be corrected on that.

Definitely worth a look. That certificate of completion would be ideal though! :-)
