Thanks for all your kind thought about Mum. I'm hoping she doesn't need another op. Lack of finances make it more stressful, I would pop up more often whilst she's in hospital but it's such a long way and so expensive [:(]

doing an IVA you will never save, becuase the basic principle is that all you money goes on essentials etc, and the rest in to the iva, this is the correct way, but use a bit of common sense their is ways round it

I suppose the only real chance of saving is if you have bonuses/overtime x

I do manage to save money. I had a terramundi jar bought for me last Christmas and at the end of the week all my silver goes in there. It may not be much sometimes but it's mounting up. I shall smash it on Christmas Day and count up the money. I expect to have a couple of hundred pounds in there which I will enjoy spending!!!!

My order is already in for a new jar this year.

I don't get bonuses or overtime but I have managed to save.

I've got a tin that you can only open with a tin opener and I'm putting my £2 coins in it. I don't get many but I'm hoping that by the time we go to Florida there might be quite a bit in there!

I bought mine on Ebay but they sell them in Poundland. I've also got one for pound coins and try and put one in every time I have a few in my purse - doesn't happen often! I like the idea that I can't just borrow from it!

The terramundi jar costs about £20 (mine was a gift) and you can save up to £400 in it depending upon what coins you put in there.

I also save 5p, 2p and 1p coins in normal money bags then when I have about £20 I go to Coinstar and cash it in. I know I have to pay to do it but it works for me and gives me a bit of extra spending money.

I couldn't use the terramundi jar as I wouldn't like to smash it as some are so pretty! It's not so bad if it's a gift but I don't think I could justify paying £20 on something to be smashed!

Finger crossed you've got loads in it Jan!

That's fine - I think I'd have used it as an ornament though!

It's quite a boring black and white stripe with a slit in there to put the money in. I like the fact that I can now see coins rather than a black hole!!

It won't be full by any means but I shall sit at the dining room table Christmas Day afternoon and be like Scrooge and sit and count my pennies!!

Skippy .. get yourself some old newspaper and some PVA glue. Blow up a balloon and paste strips of newspaper all over it, leaving a little gap for a slit. When it's dry, give it a coat of emulsion. Pop the balloon through the slip --- and Hey Presto !! One Terramundi-type jar!
