B&E are introducers who used to pass you on to their sister firm Blair Endersby. They were recently taken over by Cleardebt.
I think most of us have those allowances - I certainly have mobile, a basic sky package, work lunches, clothes etc. Don't claim for newspapers as I only buy one a week, on a Sunday. I have a farily generous allowance and can manage on it.

Jan i agree with you entirely. I have read on here so many blogs regarding peoples budgets and i was amazed at what actual allowance i was able to have
Hi... foggy
This is a good reply but my point of view....If you start out on a 5 year repayment arrangement with an IVA budget that you can’t live comfortably within, there’s going to be just one out come… and that’s IVA payment problems!!
and in general IVA budget says that When the IVA budget is being put together, it is really important that the IVA applicant is happy that sufficient and realistic allowances are being set aside.

Hi. I rang baines and earnst who i believe are a broker? To be honest they were brilliant. They told me what to put down for expenditure and how much. They gave me an allowance for things like mob phone. Sky tv. Gym membership. School dinners. News papers. Clothes. Emergency money. They were very very generous with my expenditure.
How can b and e tell you what you spend! Its meant to be the other way around. Be honest about where your money is spent and a good iva firm will talk you through it,not tell you what you can get away with!

Hi
Just a correction in that Blair Endesby IVA book was sold to Grant Thornton and not Cleardebt
Your partners income should be taken into account, list all your joint expenditure and then split the money left over [disposable income] at the ratio of your earnings, so if you earn 60% of the household income and your partner 40% they should keep 40% of any joint disposable income for themselves
Sorry - don't know where that one came from!!!!!!!!

thanks for all your responses, its nice to get advice from people who have been through the same situation. i've almost finished my budget, but only for myself. my girlfriend is basically not forthcoming with her financial information!! we've only been living with each other for 2 months, and i think she's slightly aprehensive about sharing it. i can understand her feeling to a certain extent, because shes under the impression that what she puts down, will result in her inadvertantly partly paying off a proportion of my debts, and paying towards my sons upkeep who stays with me 3 nights a week.i'm going to speak to the guy from cccsva on wednesday an explain the situation and hopefully it will get resolved. ive stated in the budget about all of my outgoings for me and my son, and hopefully that will be enough information for it to be accepted. fingers crossed!!!!
All that CCCS should need to know is that she is contributing her fair share towards the household income.

I wouldnt have included half the things that B + E told me to include. If i had done it myself then my repayments would have been 650 per month. As they are only 430 per month i think i did the right thing. Is it not a good thing to be able to keep as much of my wages as possible?????
The idea of an IVA is to pay back as much as possible to our creditors, not keep as much of your wages as possible. You should put down what you spend and your IP should then guide you, not tell you what to claim for.
Hi
If you have only been together a couple of months I think it may be unreasonable to expect your new partner to disclose their financial details.
If you have no joint accounts it may be fairer just to state a lump sum that your partner contribtes to cover bills each month.
Will be interesting to see how the CCCSVA dept handle it.
Regards
Skippy im sorry but i disagree. Id rather be comfortable for the next 5 years whilst in my iva. Surely the less you have to pay back the better?????????
I agree that you should be comfortable, but at the end of the day the idea of an IVA is to repay as much as you can, not get as much of your debt written off as possible.
I agree with Skippy - the idea is to pay back as much as possible. You can live quite comfortably but you should not have a great deal of money left at the end of the month.
